      VCGP HISTORY MAKING DAY   VIRGINIA CITY (April 26) – After crazy weather on Saturday Mother Nature blessed Sunday’s race with mild, sunny and dry conditions. And that set the stage for a historical day on the Comstock.   On Saturday the pros, expert and amateurs race but Sunday is reserved for Novice, Women, Bombers and Vintage Bikes. And at least one hill was eliminated shortening the course from a 25-mile loop to 20-miles.   Once again two head start positions were auctioned off to help VC charities.         VCGP – MUD, SPEED, BROTHER’S DUEL AND TRAGEDY   VIRGINIA CITY (April 24) – This former mining town comes alive ever April as the hills echo with the sound of motorcycle racing. This year the 44th annual Virginia City Grand Prix featured a new location for the pits and vendor area as well as a battle between brothers in the pro ranks. After riding as hard as he could Travis Coy scored the overall victory on Saturday, the day when the pros, Experts and Amateurs race.     RACING PREVIEW OF A WILD WEEKEND AHEAD FOR FANS This week’s racing preview includes the annual classic on the Comstock, the Virginia City Grand Prix that kicks off the weekend.   Saturday is for the fast guys and gals that race as Pros, Experts and Amateurs.   • DAKAR RALLY – TRIP OF A LIFETIME

    SPARKS (Jan. 29) — Curt Chapman, a Virginia Highlands resident, took a very special trip in January where he rode a motorcycle and chased the 2015 Dakar Rally across South America. And like many riders, he got his start on two-wheels at a young age. “I’ve been riding for 45 years and began racing 42 years ago in Enduros and off-road events in the early 1970’s,” he said. “I got my first bike when I was around 10-years-old but never found interest in motocross or other track racing.” The events he rode in were in the forest areas surrounding his
