    Due to the length of the article I am putting these photos in a gallery. Octane Fest in Fallon is a celebration of speed and color. It is held in three different venues and two of the are Top Gun Raceway, located south of the town, as well as the Churchill County Fairgrounds, located near downtown. In the event article I missed who won the Top Comp division at the drag strip. Well got word too late to include it that the two drivers that would have been in the final decided to skip that run due to the weather.

    Every June people flock to one of Nevada’s towns to celebrate several kinds of motorsports.   FALLON (June 11,12) – Octane Fest is an annual celebration of horsepower, speed and color put on in this Nevada town. Rattlesnake Speedway, Top Gun Raceway and the Churchill County Fairground host many events during the three days and nights the festival runs.     In addition to the usual suspects, there is a brand new event visiting our area. Racing Preview for this week has a special event as well as various other motorsport happenings in our area. And the national scene as well is going full blast. There is a new event in our area, the first ever Silver State Motoclimb at Wild West Motorsports Park located east of Sparks off the Mustang exit on I-80.     Once again it’s going to be a jam packed weekend of racing action. Motorsport Preview for this weekend is another buffet that’s large enough to satisfy any fan, not matter what their hunger is for racing. The big event in our region is the grand reopening of Hawthorne Speedway, a track that’s been dark for almost 20-years. It’s a festival down there as Saturday is Armed Forces Day.     Octane Fest winds up with an action packed Sunday at Top Gun and Rattlesnake Raceway.   FALLON, NV (June 14) – Octane fest wound up on Sunday with the Top Gun Raceway wrapping up the NHRA Pacific National event.     Octane Fest brings color and speed to Fallon. The Octane Fest rolls into Fallon this weekend for three days and evenings of action packed motorsports. In addition two regional tracks will also be staging their own races. On Friday evening at 7 p.m. the Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race while, up at Susanville, at that same time Diamond Mountain Speedway, located at the fairgrounds, will also be in action.     What’s racing this weekend is packed days of motorsport action that has something for almost anybody. If the weather holds local race fans are in for a treat. On Friday, starting at 7 p.m., Lovelock Speedway has a make up race for the one rained out in May.      RACING PREVIEW FOR THE WEEKEND This week has both oval and drag racing for area fans.   Things begin Friday as Fernley 95A Speedway hosts the 2nd annual Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial race. It’s a Western Dwarf Car regional. On both Friday and Saturday qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. These little speedsters usually put on quite a show.
