    RENO, NV (Oct 25) – Racing preview for this weekend has a varied menu even though seasons are winding down. And while tracks are going dark there is some live racing just getting started along with what’s found on TV and streamed on the Internet. In our region two motorcycle events will be in the Winnemucca area although they are about 30 miles apart. The Mason Valley Dirt Squirts will host MRANN’s final round of the year at an event called The Silver State Howl-A-Wheelie.   • MRANN: SHOWDOWN AT BOTTLE CREEK

    The season ending event for MRANN was held under almost perfect weather and had a good field of competitors.   BOTTLE CREEK, NV (Nov. 13) – MRANN had its final race and showdown in an area between Winnemucca and Imlay at Bottle Creek Road. The race was hosted by the Mason Valley Dirt Squirts and was named the Stars and Bars Hare Scramble.     Wild West Motorsports Park - Ultra 4 Nationals

    Racing preview for this weekend has a unique and major event this weekend as well as desert motorcycle racing action. The Nitto Tire Ultra 4 Nationals moves into Wild West Motorsports Park for a Saturday race. If you’ve never seen this event it is one of the wildest races on the planet. An Ultra 4 is a cross between an all out desert racer and a rock crawler. And they do race across two fields of rocks, and those rocks, well they’re more like boulders.       MRANN headed east for Round 2 of its Fall series and did a rare one-day event. TOULON (Sept. 27) – Western States Racing Association had a busy weekend here.     Wild West Motorsport Park - Silver State Rock Crawling Championship

    Racing preview for this week and a new event on the menu. RENO – This week is another mix of different events, some local and others national. And this time there’s something new. Two events in our area are two-day affairs running on Saturday and Sunday. The new one is the Silver State Rock Crawling Championship held at the Wild West Motorsports Park.     HERRING MEMORIAL HONORS FALLEN RIDER AND ENDS SPRING SEASON FOR MRANN. FERNLEY (June 21) – The Herring Memorial race on Father’s Day weekend honors a young rider that was lost seven years ago. This time, the sixth anniversary race, was staged at the Sandbox, or the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Park using all the available track, so one loop was between two and three miles.   • 4TH ANNUAL SANDBOX GRAND PRIX

    Fernley (March 29) — Four years ago MRANN and the local OTHG combined forces for the initial Sandbox Grand Prix. It’s a day full of motocross action on an 2.5 mile long course that ends with a team race. There are no points, money only bragging rights and a trophy. And its become one of the most anticipated fun events of the year. And once again the venue was the Sandbox or the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track.   • TOWNSEND WINS MRANN RACE

    Blue Wing Flag (March 1) – MRANN journeyed about 25 miles west of Toulon beside a not too dry lake for it’s second race of the season. The Wide Open 120 was the combined effort by the Cheaters and Rimbenders Motorcycle Clubs.     Once again television is ripe with various races and so is the Internet. And locally the second race of the year happens this weekend. This weekend MRANN journeys toward Lovelock but the race area is actually about 20-miles along a good dirt road to a dry lakebed west of Toulon.   It’s the Wide Open 120 held at Blue Wing Flat, Nevada.   • SPRING MOTOCROSS RACING IS ON

    Last fall SMRA pulled the plug on its fall motocross season. The Over The Hill Gang then took up the cause, thought they had a three-race series but that turned into a one-off race at Fernley. Over the winter the Gang has been working and is joined by the Old Timer’s Chapter so racing will return. Over the winter Gang president Layne Kolbet was able to secure use of the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track, otherwise known as the “Sandbox.” And the club also helped the Lions when they were in need.   The Gang will host and stage the first

  • DEAD HORSE STARTS AREA RACING

    Nightingale ( Feb. 15) – The Trail Blazers motorcycle club hosted the first race in our region for 2015. It traditionally not only opens racing in our region but starts MRANN’s season as well. This year the name is the Dead Horse 95.5 and it was the 17th annual Hare and Hound race. When the dust settle a veteran hot shoe, one that suffered significant injuries less than two years ago, showed that’s he’s healed and still has the speed needed to win races.   • YOUNG CHAMPION LOOKS AHEAD

    (RENO (1-12) — In every form of racing there are the veterans and younger competitors that are rising up the ranks. MRANN is no different and one rising racer is 16-year-old Spanish Springs High School Sophomore Drew Chattin, this year’s 250 Expert championship.     NIGHTINGALE (Nov. 23) – MRANN ended its season here east of Fernley on the south side of I-80. For the desert racers it was their Championship Day as titles were clinched or secured.   This time the Tankslappers Motorcycle Club staged “The Return of the Jackass,” in the rolling hills. While it was windy on Saturday the weather was almost perfect on Sunday.     This weekend is championship time for two different series, one local and the other international. Both events wind up racing for this year. • East of Fernley the desert racers of MRANN square off for their final event. The pits are located on the south side of I-80 off the Nightingale exit. Titles will be clinched while other racers are riding to secure their places in the points. The action begins Saturday with a 45-minute race for the Pee Wee riders.
