    RENO, NV (JUNE 19) — Summer officially arrives on Friday but the car meet scene and racing are already rolling. There are a bunch of meets and events as well as big announcement. CAR MEETS: • Thursday starts in the cool of the morning at 8 a.m. when Iron Mafia has its weekly meet at Kim’s Donuts.   • QUINCY SPEEDWAY HOSTS PRO STOCKS

    QUINCY, CALIFORNIA (June 15) — This weekend West Coast Pro Stocks made its first visit to Quincy Speedway. The event was the Pearson Family Memorial Race and two of the regular classes were there to support the program. There was a bit of computer problems so another laptop had to be summoned. Once that was done and the fast laps over with it was time for the heat races.   • FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND CAR SHOWS

    RENO, NV (June 16) – It’s Father’s Day weekend and several groups held car meets as well as staging cruises. Great weather set the stage for these meets. • On Saturday the Impalas Car Club of Reno had its Summer Jam Taco Truck Throwndown. Location was Baldini’s Casino and there were a large amount of various cars, trucks as well as Impalas. The Impala Row had various models as well as an Impala row close to the club’s easy up.     RENO, NV (June 9) – Well summer is in full swing and there were two very different car meets Sunday. One was for all types of vehicles while the other was for one brand and its many models. • Any Cars & Coffee meet has variety as its theme and this one was no exception.   • MRANN: WHOOPS, WASHES AND WHATEVER

    COLD SPRINGS, NEVADA (June 2) — Whatever MC hosted the current round of the 2024 MRANN season. The location was north of Reno and the event was named “Whoops, Washes and Whatever.” Since the long course was about 19-miles long Sunday was organized differently than most MRANN classes. The Pros, Experts and Amateur, who lined in rows depending on the class they were racing in had two motos.   • MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND RACE AT DIAMOND MOUNTAIN

    SUSANVILLE, CALIF. (May 25) — It’s Memorial Day weekend and Diamond Mountain Speedway had a Friday-Saturday show. Great although cool, weather set the stage for two nights of great racing. Since it was Memorial Day weekend the entire field of cars lined up 4-wide on the track before opening ceremonies. Announcer Davey Munoz played the National Anthem then followed that with Taps to honor those veterans that have passed or never came home.   • STADIUMGP ROCKS RENO RODEO ARENA

    RENO NV (MAY 18) — The first StadiumGP rocked the Reno Rodeo Arena this weekend. On Thursday was qualifying followed by a concert, then Friday and Saturday were both race days. There were a variety of classes but the Pros raced for $10,000 on Friday an $10,000 on Saturday. Saturday evening, after the opening ceremonies, things started rolling with the three classes of Futures. These were racers 17 and under. Peyton Maas won in Class 1 while Lucas Evans won Class 2.   • NNKC MAKE UP RACE

    STEAD, NV (May 19) — Several weeks ago the Northern Nevada Kart Club had to postpone the second event in its 2024 season. That event was made up today when the weather cooperated. Things did get started a bit late but soon the program was rolling. After the second heat race it was time for the main events. First up were the Kid’s Karts.   • QUINCY SPEEDWAY HOSTS DWARF CAR NATIONALS

    QUINCY, CALIF. (May 11) — This weekend Quincy, Speedway started its season by hosing the annual Western States Dwarf Car Nationals. It was round three of this year’s series. Before the racing began the entire Dwarf Car field assembled on the track for parade laps. They honor those lost and the event has been known as the Richardson-Kay Memorial. This year it also honored Loretta Christiano, who was lost last year as well as one of Vukie Wilson’s family. Two were on Sunday, although this reporter was only able to get to one while the other was on Saturday, fortunately after the storm passed Reno.
