    SPARKS, NV (April 21) – Norcal Rock Racing brought its off-road show to the Wild West Motorsports Park this weekend. All types of racers from Pre-Runners to 4400’s were on hand to face the challenge this track offers, especially since it was run in reverse.   “It was good practice out here, it was high speed fast driving like a desert race, a rush the whole time,” J.P.   • OLD TIMERS ROCK THE SANDBOX

    FERNLEY, NV (April 22) – This weekend the Reno chapter of the Old Timers hosted a round of their national series. The site was the Sand Box as its known, or the Fernley/Wadsworth Lions Motocross Track. The format is five timed motos; three on Saturday and two Sunday. This time there were over 150 riders that showed up for the weekend’s action although some of them chose to only race Saturday.     FALLON, NV (April 14) – Rattlesnake Raceway staged the second race of the season going with good weather and hot racing on the track. This time the IMCA main was a come-from-behind story for the winner. In the heat races both Malen Gonzalez and Shawn Natenstedt were caught up in accidents.     STEAD, NV (April 15) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) opened its 2018 season at Desert Park Raceway, the club’s home track. With 40 karts on hand everyone was ready to start the year even if it was a cool and very windy day. One class even introduced a new motor to the club.     DRY VALLEY, NEVADA (April 8) – This year’s Diamond Back Hare and Hound was run at the Dry Valley OHV area. This round of MRANN’s spring series was the Lassen Motorcycle Club. Things are slim to none on the National and International scene. Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon gets things rolling starting at 6 p.m. Friday with their annual car show at Stockman’s Casino. There will be racecars as well as streetcars on display.     MILLER’S CHOP SHOP SPARKS, NV (March 19) – Miller’s Chop Shop is another small family owned and run business in our area that works in the automotive field. However there is a difference as it’s not the usual auto repair facility. The inspiration for owner Robert Miller to start the shop came from a local track closing down. “It all began with stock car racing at T-Car Raceway,” he said. “We started racing cars then the track got torn down, then we started working on hot rods after working on regular cars then full time on antiques and hot rods.”
