    RENO, NV (Aug. 8) — The 10-day long festival known as Hot August Nights is rolling along. After starting in Virginia City it’s going full bore this week in Reno and Sparks. It’s a celebration highlighting cars from a different era as well as entertainment, cruises, drag racing as well as displays of cars and more cars. Each morning gets rolling in downtown Reno as cars are lined up along Virginia Street. Many of them are restored.   • FRONTIER DAY RACES AT LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY

    LOVELOCK, NV (AUG. 3) — Every year the rural town of Lovelock Nevada celebrates its founding with Frontier Days. Not far out of downtown the Lovelock Speedway has two nights called the Frontier Days Races. One added incentive is a special belt buckle awarded to those that earned the most points in several classes over the two nights. First up Saturday was the Mod Mini class.   • LOCAL RIDER AIMS TO RACE IN THE ISDE

    RENO, NV  (8-1) — For 17-year-old Carson City resident Ryder Thomaselli, he plans to be doing something very special this fall. He’ll be racing in the ISDE (International Six Day Enduro), in mid-October. Asked what the event is, he said, “The ISDE is an international competition that pits teams from several nations in competition. It’s basically the Olympics of off road, it’s a six-day event, a six-day enduro.   • NNKC – DAY OF CLOSE FINISHES

    STEAD, NV (July 28) — Unlike last time dry weather welcomed the Northern Nevada Kart Club when they raced today. It was a day with several close finishes and a show of some great racing. The Kid Kart class has the youngest drivers that are earning their racing spurs. Low power karts are used and they have a standing start. At the start Ryan Knight was on point with Braxton Shiflet and Presley Prater giving chase. Eventually Shiflet was able to take the lead while Knight slipped back to third.   • LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY & WATERCROSS WEEKEND

    RENO, NV (JULY 21) — Lovelock Speedway had the next round of its season with a two-day show this weekend. Despite some occasional light rain the show went on. Since it was NAPA Night at the races there was a NAPA t pace truck that led the pace lap for each of the main. Saturday’s first feature was the Gen-X class.     STEAD, NV (July 14) — What looked like a great day for racing Sunday was cut short by Mother Nature. Only one main was able to get going and that had to be shortened.   • SPRINT CARS VISIT LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY

    LOVELOCK, NV (June 22) — Despite the heat the Lovelock Speedway had two days of racing this weekend. On Saturday, in addition to the two classes present the Sierra Nevada Sprint Car series visited the track. Car counts were a little low as the IMCA Touring series was in Tonopah this weekend. But there were Hobby Stocks and Gen-X to round out the show. After getting things going the sprint cars went out and qualifying.
