RENO, NV (May 10) – A sure sign of spring is the Hot August Night?s Spring Revival that visited downtown Reno this weekend. The Friday, Saturday event was blessed with decent weather, at least during the daytime. Winning the Best In Show was Mark Hain and his 1959 Rambler Cross Country Station Wagon. Asked why he chose this car he said, “It was the first car I remember as a child and I absolutely loved it. So when you become adult you have to revert back to your childhood. BATTLE BORN MX: ROUND 5 AT THE SANDBOX
FERNLEY, NV (MAY 12) – Warm weather and hot racing highlighted round 5 of the Battle Born MX spring series. While entries were slightly down it still took 20 motos to include all the classes and combinations. Eight pros were on hand but one of them, Tony Evans was eliminated in a nasty looking get off during the first set of motos. Fortunately he was able to get up and walk back to the pits. LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY: LET’S GO RACING
LOVELOCK, NV (May 11) – Despite a low car count the decision was made to go racing and race they did. Helping was Mother Nature setting the stage with great weather. This was the first scheduled visit by the Northern Nevada Winged Sprints but only six of them showed up. Sadly the driveline in Bob Cooney’s car came off during the heat race and ended his night. QUINCY, CA (May 4/5) – This weekend the Western States Dwarf Car Nationals visited American Valley Speedway located in Feather River Country. The event is the sixth annual Dave Richardson and Leroy Kay Memorial Race, named after two drivers lost their lives about seven years ago. NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB: ROUND 2
STEAD, NV (May 5) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club held the second race of its season at Desert Park Raceway. Mother Nature blessed the event with almost perfect weather for a day of hard racing. For this round the short course was used. Part of that is the old turn now number 8, onto the front straight. Not everyone got it right and the barrier got a good work out during the day. RENO, NV (April 20) – The Silver Barons Motorcycle Club hosted their first Easter Basket Ride Saturday. The gathering point for donations was at Reno-Harley Davidson. Although not everything went as planned the event was a success and will lead to further charity functions like this. WILD OPENING NIGHT AT 95A SPEEDWAY
FERNLEY, NV – It was a wild night when 95A Speedway opened its 2019 season Saturday. Except for a cooling wind the track was tacky, fast, ready for action and two classes delivered just that.
