FALLON, NV (Nov. 9) – Rattlesnake Raceway held its annual awards banquet at the Churchill County Fairgrounds this year. It was a time to reflect on the past season and look ahead to the New Year and racing to come. As usual there was a table full of trophies plus some special awards for people that have contributed to the success of this past year. SEASON ENDING BBMX RACE
FERNLEY, NV (Nov. 10) – The final race for our region was held at the Fernley-Wadsworth Lion’s Motocross Track this weekend. Hosting the event was the Reno Chapter of the Over The Hill Gang and it marked the end of the BBMX season. The turnout was pretty good and a couple of the classes either had virtually or full gates in face one class had 31 riders at the gate. Helping the show was great racing weather. BATTLE AT FORT SAGE – VORRA
DOYLE, CA (Nov. 2) – In its first Northern California off road event the newly reborn Valley Off Road Racing Association (VORRA) chose the Fort Sage OHV area east of Doyle. The title was the Battle at Fort Sage, a day full of speed in the desert, silt and dust. After Friday’s pre-running and Saturday’s registration as well as tech inspection, everyone was ready to go. SEASON IN REVIEW: RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY
RENO, NV (Oct. 28) — Now that the oval track racing has ended it’s time for the Season In Review. First track will be Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon and the I-80 Challenge. Although, like other tracks, car counts were a problem at times the season rolled on with some good racing. Perseverance was the key in the IMCA Modified Class. At times there would only be three modifieds but through out the season Wad Lumsden was always there. FERNLEY, NV (Oct. 20) – Motocross racers returned to the “Fern,” or the Sandbox as Battle Born MX staged the 10th round of its season. Hosting the event was the Old Timers Motorcycle club. It was a varied day as the gates would sometimes be virtually full or have a bunch of empty spaces. TWO-DAY SHOOTOUT AT 95A SPEEDWAY
FERNLEY, NV (Oct 12) — The season ending event at 95A Speedway was a two-day shootout. Two complete shows one Saturday evening and the second Sunday afternoon. At Saturday’s driver meeting Gene Kay made an emotional announcement about his father passing the previous week. About two months ago Kay lost his mother so it’s been a sad time for him. BATTLE BORN MX AT THE SANDBOX
FERNLEY, NV (Oct 13) – Battle Born MX (BBMX) staged round 9 of its season at the Fernley/Wadsworth Lion’s Motocross Track, also known as the Sand Box, this weekend. There was a good turn out of riders, as some gates were more than 90% full. If this keeps up soon classes will have to be divided. RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS
FALLON, NV (Oct 6) – The 33rd annual Dirt Track Championship closes out the season for Rattlesnake Raceway. It’s two shows in two days where a driver’s combined finishes determine their spot in the overall championship. As an added attraction was the final round of this year’s I-80 Challenge series, that goes across Northern Nevada.
