TRAIL BLAZERS KICK OFF MRANN SEASON
NIGHTINGALE, NV (Feb. 16) – For over 20 years the Trailblazer’s Motorcycle Club has kicked off the MRANN season with a Hare & Hound race. This year’s edition was the “Wash” ington 100. Nice weather set the stage for a great Sunday as several out of state riders showed up. In fact there were 167 on hand to get this year’s desert racing going. ARENACROSS RETURNS TO RENO
RENO, NV (Feb. 8) – Once again the Reno Livestock Events Center echoed with the sounds of Arenacross. The series is now Kicker AMA Arenacross presented by Lucas Oil and it has returned to the Biggest Little City. Unlike the previous series the racing card had all the classes including both pro divisions. The afternoon was for heats and if a class had too few entries that main was run before the evening show. TOP GUN AWARDS BANQUET
FERNLEY,NV (Feb. 1) – Officials, drivers and family members from the Top Gun Dragstrip gathered to celebrate the 2019 season on Saturday. The function was at the Fernley Senior Center and began a very nice potluck dinner. Once that was over John Stauverman, track president and race director, introduced the new track announcer, Davey Boy Munoz. After explaining his extensive background Munoz took a wireless mic and began to interview some of those in attendance. AWARDS BANQUET FOR OTHG
SPARKS, NV (Jan 25) – The Over The Hill Gang (OTHG) held it’s annual awards banquet at Pinocchio’s in Sparks. It was a night honoring the top points winners, celebrating class championships in the national series as well as enjoying a great raffle. Outgoing president Sedanna Losey was the MC for the night. “We had a huge race at the Nationals and the Sandbox Grand Prix was a huge success,” she said. BIG CHANGES FOR FERNLEY TRACK
FERNLEY, NV (Jan. 21) – Big changes are coming for what was known as Fernley 95A Speedway. One change is a new name, 95 Motor Sports Complex, another are new owners. Last year Sam Marson and partner Daniel Blair took over the track. Last week there was a meeting originally for volunteers but it morphed into a much larger gathering. VERDI, NV (Dec. 11) – The Boomtown Casino and Hotel was the site of the BBMX this year’s awards banquet. Area motocross racers assembled for a nice buffet style dinner, receive trophies and maybe score in a raffle for those that competed last season. SANDBOX GRAND PRIX RETURNS
FERNLEY, NV (Jan.5) – The popular Sandbox Grand Prix returned due to the efforts of the Over The Hill Gang Reno Chapter. A huge turnout was blessed by mild weather supplied by Mother Nature. The day began with a series of 30-minute races and before each start there was a sighting lap so the riders knew where the extended course was going to go.
