  • TOP GUN DRAGSTRIP: THUNDER AND HEAT

    FALLON, NV (JULY 12) – Top Gun Dragstrip held two days of drag racing this weekend. The event was punctuated by heat, both off and on the track. One of the youngest drivers did some thing no one else matched that weekend. In fact it was a great day for a pair of Junior Dragster drivers. There were six Junior Dragster racers on hand Sunday.   • DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY: JULY 4TH

    SUSANVILLE, CA (July 4) – Celebrating Independence Day the Diamond Mountain Speedway hosted two-days of racing. Saturday’s action ended with a huge fireworks show above the track. After climbing to the top of his car as he celebrated his A Mod victory, winner NickTrenchor, from Klamath Falls, Oregon climbed down into a flurry of hugs and congratulations from family and other drivers.     RENO, NV (July 1) – Independence Day weekend and Racing Preview highlights cruises, car meets and racing along with fireworks. Going to be a busy time for race fans.   • WOMEN WITH WHEELZ AT VIRGINIA CITY

    VIRGINIA CITY, NV (June 27_ – For the past six years the annual Women With Wheelz car show has been held in Reno. This year however it moved to the Comstock thanks to the support from Virginia City and the Silverland Inn and Suites. Due to the current situation the attendance wasn’t as big in years past but there were a variety of cars on display. In addition there was also a trailer full of vintage clothing.     RENO, NV (June 17) – Racing Preview has cruises, car meets and an annual car show. In addition there is only only race in Northern Nevada but some to watch on TV.   • TOP GUN DRAGSTRIP – PACIFIC OPEN

    FALLON, NV (June 14) – Top Gun Drag Strip began its delayed season with a bang. It hosted a round of the NHRA Pacific National Open Series that brought racers from as far away as Montana and maybe Texas. Checking the NHRA sheet there were 13 classes racing Sunday with five of them being in Junior Dragster and Comp. These youngsters are earning their racing spurs and race on a 1/8th mile track unlike their big brethren. On Sunday there were only two local area winners.   • DAY RACE AT 95 MOTOR SPORT COMPLEX

    FERNLEY, NV (June 13) – First day race of the season drew an expected small field to the oval at 95 Motor Sport Complex. This was due to the season opening race in Susanville. No matter as the racing was intense and the Hobby Stock main provided many thrills for the fans, it was a case of saving the last for best.     RENO, NV (June 10) – Racing Preview for this weekend has more events plus car meets. As the weather warms up and the lock down eases there is more to do and see.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY: SEASON OPENER

    FALLON, NV (June 6) – Rattlesnake Raceway opened it’s 2020 season with a two-day show that included the latest round of the I-80 Challenge. Although Saturday’s winds were a bit challenge that didn’t slow down the racing. After the A Modified race winner Jake Mayden, from Springfield, Oregon said, “It was a bit eventful, kind of got torn up in the beginning. We’re just trying to find our own groove and mind our own business. Got into third and got in clear traffic, I felt I was gaining on the leaders and the caution came out at the right time.

  • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC SEASON OPENER

    STEAD, NV (June 7) – Desert Park Raceway echoed with the sound of racing as the Northern Nevada Kart Club finally was able to start its 2020 season. It was a cold, windy day and in the end Mother Nature didn’t cooperate. In fact with the weather in mind there were only one set of heats. Then after several weather delays it was time to star the main events. First up were the Kids Kart class and four of these youngest racers took the green flag.
