  • BATTLE BORN MX AT THE SANBOX

    FERNLEY, NV (May 16) – Once again a huge number of riders converged on the Fernley Motocross Track, otherwise known as the Sandbox. They were there to compete in round 4 of this year’s Battle Born Motocross (BBMX) series.   For many classes there were almost full gates, always a good sign for the future of motocross in our area.   • RACING PREVIEW: MAY 20 TO 23

    RENO, NV (May 19): As we head toward the biggest racing weekend of the year things are ramping up nationally and in this region. The only question for us is the incoming weather that will hit then be gone by Saturday.   CAR MEETS & CRUISES: • Summit Racing Equipment, located at 950 E. Glendale Ave. in Sparks will host another Friday cruise in. Things get going around 4 p.m. and hopefully the weather will cooperate   • There may or may not be Fernley Main Street Cruise on Friday.   • WESTERN STATES DWARF CAR NATIONALS

    QUINCY, CA (May 15) – The annual visit by the Western States Dwarf Car Association brought 87 of these cars to American Valley Speedway in Quincy. Drivers came from all over the west including a husband-wife driving team that made the 21-hour tow from Colorado.   The race also has another name, as it’s The Dave Richardson Leroy Day Memorial. It honors two racers that competed in Northern Nevada that lost their lives a few years ago. Before the night’s racing got going the drivers did several 4-wife parade laps in their honor.     RENO, NV (May 12) – Racing Preview this week has much going on in our region including a special event and announcements. There are a bunch of racing happening across the country as well as overseas.   CAR MEETS: • Locally the weekend gets started at Summit Racing Equipment located at 960 East Glendale Ave., in Sparks.   • DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY: ROUND 6

    SUSANVILLE, CALIF (May 8) – Once again Diamond Mountain Speedway had a Friday-Saturday double header. On Saturday the Battle Born Winged Sprint Cars visited the track.   Starting the evening were the Mini Stocks and six of them took the lead with Nick Boucher on point. Soon contact brought out a caution and Boucher pitted with a flat while the other car was pushed to the pits. When the green waved again Suzie Schmitt took the lead followed by Johnny Moya with Krazy Kate Robertson giving chase. Once Robertson took second the chase was on as she closed with Schmitt.

  • SPARKS CARS & COFFEE

    SPARKS, NV (May9) – Sparks Cars & Coffee held its first meet of the month. As usual the location was by Buffalo Wild Wings and there were the usual variety of exotic, not so rare and restored cars and trucks   Great weather helped highlight the day as there was a good turnout of many types of cars and trucks.  Among all the cars was a exotic classic.     RENO, NV (May 5) – This week’s Racing Preview has a bunch of car meets, cruises and one that is special for the ladies. While the racing is slim there is one in our region plus motocross practice sessions.   CAR MEETS & CRUISES: •  On Friday Summit Racing at 960 East Glendale in Sparks is bringing back the Cruise Nights.   • AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: REOPENS

    QUINCY, CALIF (May 1) – After being shut down all last season American Valley Speedway reopened and started the 2021 season. Good weather and a good crowd in the stands set the stage for a great night of racing on this May Day night.   Before the mains all classes had heat races. There was an attempt at a trophy dash for the top two A mod heat winners.   Well it lasted less than a lap after two cars took each other out, only one was able to make the main.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC ROUND 2

    STEAD, NV (May 2) – Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) held it’s second points of the season this weekend. Unlike the last race where the short course was used this time it was the full course.   After practice, qualifying and heat races it was time for the money round, the mains.     RENO, NV (April 28) – Racing Preview this time is full of events, from a special project, car meets as well as on track racing. The TV will also be full of various events to watch.   SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: • Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) is combining forces with the Hills Angels and Desert Pigs for a special project.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY SEASON OPENER

    FALLON, NV (April 24) – Rattlesnake Raceway began its 2021 season with a two-day show on Friday and Saturday. While the last day began windy that eased after sunset.   Starting the night were the Hobby Stock racers. When the green waved Richie Altman was briefly in the lead until Victor Richey used an inside pass to take the point.   In back of the leader Jacob Dias was charging through the pack. Eventually he scored the victory followed by Richey and Dan Dias. For Jacob Dias this was his 100th Hobby Stock win. He celebrated by stopping on the

  • TOP GUN DRAG STRIP STARTS SEASON

    FALLON, NV (4-25) – Despite winds and cool weather this weekend area drag racers took to the track at Top Gun Drag Strip this weekend. As usual there was tire smoke, thunder and fast speeds.   The day got started normally but before some of the semi finals could be run there was a rain delay. May have happened earlier as well.   One area of concern was the shut down area where the racers were at top speed. After the last episode ended it took the track crew about 20 minutes and things were ready to go again.

    RENO, NV (April21) – This weekend’s racing preview has more events including two area tracks that are starting their seasons.   • NORCAL ROCK RACING – WILD WEST SHOOTOUT

    FERNLEY, NV (April 17) — Norcal Rock Racing brought its brand of off road racing here this weekend. This round was Metal Cloak Wild West Shootout. Mild weather with some win set the stage for a day of hard off-road racing.   First up was the Pre Runner class and only two of the trio were able to take the green. In the main Alan Jaime had to drop out with problems and that gave the victory to Team Wfo, which finished after losing the truck’s left rear wheel.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC ROUND 1

    STEAD, NV (April, 18)  – The Northern Nevada Kart Club opened it’s 2021 season this weekend. It was a very good turn out for the season’s first race as 77 drivers were on hand.   Desert Park Raceway can be altered for every event. This time it was a throw back as the club used the original configuration before the track was expanded.   The honor of starting the new season went to the youngest racers in the Kid Kart Class.
