  • LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY: SEPTEMBER SHOWDOWN & REMEMBERING 911

    LOVELOCK, NV (Sept. 11) — Lovelock Speedway Silver State Racing has its third two-day show this weekend. It was also a special race as it was held on the 20th anniversary of 911; terrorist attack on America. Saturday’s event was called September Showdown, Remembering 911. To commemorate the event track announcer Davey Munoz, with the promoter’s blessings, had first responders at the track with their unit trucks.   • RACING PREVIEW: SEPT. 9 TO 12

    RENO, NV (Sept. 8) — This weekend’s Racing Preview begins with an announcement. As summer winds down there are less cruises but there still are car meets not to mention racing locally, regionally and around the world.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC ENDS SEASON

    STEAD, NV (Sept. 5) — The Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) ended it 2021 season this Sunday. They made up a round heavy smoke canceled earlier and for many it was the championship round. Starting the program was the Kid Kart Class, only three were on hand this time. Two of them had problems with Turn 5 but thanks to a pair of fathers both drivers were able to continue. Cash Prater was the first to reach the finish as he had a fast, consistent run. At 7-years-old he’s going to move up to Junior 1 next season. Hunter Nelson

    RENO, NV (Sept 2) — Labor Day weekend is a big one in the racing world. There is a bunch going on in this region as well nationally and internationally so let’s get on with it.   • FLAT TRACK RACING AT CARSON CITY

    CARSON CITY, NV (Aug. 28) — The fifth annual Outlaw Flat Track races returned for a two-day show this weekend. Both Friday and Saturday were a blizzard of heats and main events inside the rodeo arena at Fuji Park. Both evenings began with an honor guard from the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare center presenting the colors. After prayers and the national anthem there was a period of silence to remember the Marines and Navy Corpsman lost this week. After that it was time for racing.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC ROUND 7

    STEAD, NV (Aug. 29) — Despite the haze the Northern Nevada Kart Club ran round 7 of its point’s series Sunday. With only one more round to go, drivers were either clinching championships or working on improving their points position. After qualifying and two heat races it was time for the main events.   • RACING PREVIEW: AUGUST 26 TO 29

    RENO, NV (Aug. 25) — This weekend there is racing in our region but only a few car meets as it is the fifth weekend of the month. However there is bunch on TV and the Internet. Biggest race in our area is the 5th annual Outlaw Flat Trac even at Fuji Park. The track is located at the south end of Carson City and its two days of intense racing.   • TOP GUN DRAG STRIP: HOT RACING, HAZY SKIES

    FALLON, NV (Aug. 22) — Despite smokey skies Top Gun Drag Strip had a sound postponed by the high heat in July. The meant another $5 Friday and a slight adjustment in the running schedule. Despite the haze Sunday turned out to be a great day of racing for all concerned. After getting times the eliminations began working its way down to the final rounds.     FALLON, NV (Aug. 14) — Rattlesnake Raceway has a two-day show on a hot, hazy weekend. Due to the fires in Northern California clear days have been a rare item this summer. This time the race-of-the-night came first when the Bootleggers ran their main. This class is a new version of Bombers. First on point was Jeremy Lampley, who later set the fastest lap at 18.095 seconds. Next leader was Joseph Keough until Taggart Garland took the lead.   • LOVELOCK SPEEDWAY: FRONTIER DAY RACES

    LOVELOCK, NV (Aug. 7) — After being dark last year due to the Lovelock Speedway Silver State Racing is open once again. This weekend it helped the town celebrate it’s founding with the two-day Frontier Days races. After Friday’s races it was apparent the track needed work so a group of volunteers pitched in running the water trucks as well as wheel packing and blading the track’s surface.
