  • RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 17 TO 20

    RENO, NV (March 16) — While we’re light on car meets this weekend there is a special event Saturday. There is plenty of motocross action over the hill in Northern California plus a lot on TV and the Internet.  CAR MEETS & EVENTS: • Saturday, starting at noon, there will be one more Mud Fest out at Chickadee off Lemmon Drive. An interesting event to say the least and a chance for some to really have fun in the mud.  • The next Northern Nevada Rallycross event is this Saturday.   • WINNEMUCCA MX STARTS BBMX SEASON

    WINNEMUCCA, NV (March 13) — The BBMX season opener was hosted by the Winnemucca MX Club. It was a challenging day to say the least.  The club president told this reporter they had 264 riders that accounted for 468 entries since several rode in more than one class. Between the heats and the single Club Moto there were 24 motos in the first session and would be 23 in the second and that’s not counting the heat and LCQ races.  One close race came in the second 250/450 Sportsman Pro race.   • RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 10 TO 13

    RENO, NV (March 9) — Racing is still ramping up nationally and a bit here in Northwest Nevada. With the “winter” weather being more like spring things are getting going.  CAR MEETS: • Carson Cars & Coffee meets, starting at 10 a.m., on Sunday. The location is 3300 US Highway 50 East in Carson City. I believe that is by the Human Bean coffee stand.  • After last time there is no word if and where Sparks Cars & Coffee will meet this weekend.   • NEVADA JEEP CLUB — RENO CARS & COFFEE

    RENO, NV (March 6) — This weekend two groups had meets to get the month of March rolling. On Saturday it was the Nevada Jeep Club at the Peavine Tap House while Reno Cars & Coffee had its meet Sunday by the Kietzke Starbucks.  Despite some mile snow flurries the turn out for the Nevada Jeep Club was more than expected. Many lined up their jeeps so other could see them.  At the Peavine Tap House there was a table for the three trophies and swag as well.  The trophies were for, Cleanest, Best in Show and the Dirtiest.

    RENO, NV (March 2) — Now that March is here racing is heating up and is building in Northern Nevada. Soon tracks will be opening and across the country national series are going.  CAR MEETS: • Today, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. the Reno Corvettes have their monthly meeting at the Bonanza Casino on North Virginia Street.   • SPARKS CARS & COFFEE MEET

    SPARKS, NV (Feb 28) —Sparks Cars & Coffee ended February with its second meet of the month. While there wasn’t a massive turn out it wasn’t too bad and the weather cooperated as well. As usual the Corvette crowd was in attendance. One duo was a great looking Ducati motorcycle parked next to an immaculate black Corvette. Sitting not far away was a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner owned by Paul Petersen. He’s new to the area after he and his wife moved here from Oregon.   • RACING PREVIEW: FEBRUARY 24 TO 27

    RENO, NV (Feb. 26) — Well February is almost over with and racing is rolling both in our region as well as nationally. A sure sign spring isn’t far away.  CAR MEETS: • There will be a pair of them on Sunday. First is Sparks Cars & Coffee, which begins at 10 a.m. by Buffalo Wild Wings.   • LOST LLAMA OPENS MRANN’S SEASON

    NIGHTINGALE, NV (Feb. 20) – The Trail Blazers Motorcycle Club opened MRANN”s 2022 season with the Return of the Lost Llama event, two days of racing on the desert. Pretty good weather set the stage for two days of hard racing.  The Big Bike event on Sunday marked the return of a veteran.  After winning the race Dallas Serpa was asked by the announcer, Tina Honea, how long it had been since he raced with MRANN. “It’s got to be at least a year and it’s been a while since I done the whole series,” he said.  Asked about the race

  • ARENACROSS VISITS RENO

    RENO, NV (Feb. 5) — The Kicker AMA Arenacross series set up camp for a two-day show at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center this weekend. The result was two days that were a blizzard of heats, some LCQ’s and mains.  Before every program began a JROTC group from a local high school presented the colors.     RENO, NV (Feb.2) — Second month of the New Year starts off with a bang as there is a car meet, motocross action as well as NASCAR’s first race of the year.   • BBMX AWARDS BANQUET

    RENO, NV (Jan. 29) — BBMX (Battle Born Motocross) held its annual award ceremony at Boomtown. It was a packed house and there were a lot of trophies to hand out as well as raffle prizes.  For those that rode in all 11 rounds there were special grand prizes that were handed out in a special raffle.  The ceremony also marked the changing of the guard as the current board decided to move on so now there is a new board at the helm.   • MUD FEST AND SPARKS CARS & COFFEE

    SPARKS, NV (Jan. 23) — This weekend there was a double header, two very different events that appealed to very different car and truck people.  Things got started Saturday when several hundred gathered around a huge pond off Chickadee Road, in the back of Lemmon Valley. It was Mud Fest 2022 and there was plenty of mud to go around as well as music and concessions.  Taking up the challenge was mix of 4X4 Pick Ups, 4X4 SUV’s, Jeeps and even UTV’s.
