  • RPM WORKSHOP VISITS RENO: PART II

RENO, NV (Dec. 3) — Due to the length of the first part there were three interviews I wanted to include so it was necessary to split the article. This part first deals with a management change at a popular Northern California track.  The next interview is how live streaming can help short tracks. Finally the last interview is with an announcer for several tracks and why emphasis on youth helps the sport’s future.  With that in mind we’ll start with a track that is closest to Reno and has hosted races that many will look forward to. Namely Silver

Sadly he passed away earlier in the week.  First speaker was Ralph Sheheen from Speed Sport

It was a weekend to help others in need.  Saturday began when Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) and Big Valley Honda teamed up for a combined event. RAD was helping people register their motorcycles and UTVs so the paperwork and fees would be in order. And they were signing up new members.  They were also collecting toys for the Reno Toy Run and Big Valley Honda not only gave them space in the show room but also donated

  • SPARKS CARS & COFFEE ENDS NOVEMBER

SPARKS, NV (NOV. 28) — The month of November ended with the second meet for Sparks Cars & Coffee.  As usual it was close to Buffalo Wild Wings.  As expected many of the more exotic cars have been put away for the winter so the car count was on the low side. However there was still a good mix of cars to see and admire.  One of them is a 1967 Mustang Coupe owned by Dana Vanpool. After doing a lot of work on it he is trying to sell the car.  “It was originally a six cylinder but has

SPARKS, NV (NOV. 20) — After a pretty good 2021 season, despite the summer smoke that caused one race to be moved, the Northern Nevada Kart Club celebrated the end with the annual awards banquet. It was held at the Coconut Bowl in Sparks.  Raffle tickets were sold and people put them into small cups by the things they might want to win. And there was a bunch of them. There was also a buffet served before the ceremony got rolling.  This year the club added new “Legacy” awards. They went to two people for their long involvement with the

  • GOLD DIGGERS END MRANN’S 2021 SEASON

BOTTLE CREEK, NV (Nov. 14) — The 2021 MRANN season ended this weekend about 30 miles north of Imlay at Bottle Creek. A good turn out was blessed with great weather and it was a day of hard racing.  Keeping with a great weather and end of the season the Gold Diggers had a new banner. Apparently it was to celebrate someone’s cousin.  As usual everyone lined up in their respective ranks with the Experts taking off first in a huge cloud of dust. Once that had cleared from where the loop went up the side of a hill into a

  • RENO CARS & COFFEE STARTS NOVEMBER

RENO, NV (Nov. 7) — As it is the first weekend in November, Reno Cars & Coffee had its meet at the Kietzke Starbucks. Once again it was a pretty good turnout considering the cool weather.  As usual there were a good mix of cars but one that many were interested in is very new and owned by Jason Oliver.  “It’s a 2021 Bronco First Edition and is about a week and a half old and it’s got all the goodies on it,” he said. “ From an off-road prospective it’s got and electronic disconnectable front sway bar, front and

  • DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY AT RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY

FALLON, NV (Oct. 30) — It appeared that Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California would not be able to run this year’s Halloween Bash. This was due to the fairgrounds being used as a fire camp for those battling the Dixie Fire. Fortunately the folks at Rattlesnake Raceway offered their track for the event. As a result the Diamond Mountain crew, plus some Rattlesnake regulars helped prepare the track and the two-day event was on.  Before everything got rolling all the racers brought their cars to the front straight. After that it was trick or treat time for the kids
