  • KPX VISITS DESERT PARK RACEWAY

    RENO, NV (July 10) — The first of two special races this season visited Desert Park Raceway this weekend. Hosting the event, KPX Karting Championship, was the Northern Nevada Kart Club as this is their home track.  Sunday is a long day with a lot of track time. Starts off with practice then a heat race.     RENO, NV (July 6) — Now that the holiday weekend is behind us there is another weekend full of car meets as well as racing. Once again it’s another buffet of events for about any race fan.  CAR MEETS: • The Carson Thursday Night Cruisers will meet from 5:30 until 7:30 for their weekly get together.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY – JULY 4TH RACES

    FALLON, NV (July 4) — Rattlesnake Raceway has traditional race on July 4th every year. It’s also the site of the town’s fireworks display and this time there were some special things added to the show.  Once the heat races were done the Monster Truck ,Airborne Ranger gave a great show. Ranger Joe vaulted over cars and ended by doing donuts on the infield. e also did a second show later. Then many of the drivers, in their cars with passengers headed for the front straight.     RENO, NV (July 3) — Two car meets got the month rolling. There was a third but this reporter was unable to attend that one.  Reno Cars & Coffee had its first meet of the month by the Keitzke Starbucks.     SPARKS, NV (June 26) — Double-header this weekend as one group prepares for a big race in July. The other ended June with its second meet of the month.  Sparks Cars & Coffee now meets by the Starbucks located on Disc drive. That’s off the Pyramid Highway where the shopping centers are over the hill. For a warm summer day it was a pretty good turn out with many types of cars.   • FATHER’S DAY CAR SHOWS

    RENO, NV (June 19) — One regular meet and one for Father’s Day highlighted this Sunday. Nice weather set the stage for a wide collection of cars, trucks and some motorcycles.  Things got rolling with Reno Cars & Coffee at the Human Bean Coffee Stand close to the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lane..     RENO, NV (June 17) — This will be a short one due to me being in hospital for a couple of days. Didn’t get home until this afternoon but wanted to get something out for those wanting to know what is happening.  CAR MEETS: • This Saturday is the annual Women with Wheels Car Show in Virginia City. It’s by the Silverland Hotel & Suites and usually has a great variety of cars.   • NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB: A BREEZY RACE DAY

    STEAD, NV (June 12) — The Northern Nevada Kart Club held the fourth round of its season at their track, Desert Park Raceway. To say it was breezy would be an understatement as many times the “breeze,” seemed more like a gale. Because of this the barriers on the front stretch were tied to the fence with wire.     RENO, NV (June 5) — Even though clouds and a few sprinkles were around there were two car meets in Reno on this day. One of them was a benefit while Reno Cars & Coffee had its first weekend of the month meet.  The Cars & Coffee meet was by the Keitzke Starbucks and as usual had a pretty good mix of cars.     FALLON, NV (May 29) — Celebrating Memorial Day weekend Rattlesnake Raceway had a Saturday/Sunday show on the oval. The afternoon show had some drivers coming from Susanville to race.  First up was the Bootlegger class and when their main started Wade Lumsden was on point with Logan Sage chasing him. A quick caution happened but on the restart Lumsden was still leading.  Moving up through the pack was Bob Vanden, who soon took third from Ryan Parkhurst.
