    Even though there’s not much racing going on there is a major desert event this week. RENO (Feb. 3) – The Racing Preview for this week is still sparse but there is some action to be watched. Locally Livfast Exit 28 Motocross Track should have its usual practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. And a special shout out for two area drivers heading to Yuma, Arizona.     A little tighter focus on racing for this region as we get closer to spring.   (RENO, Feb. 1) It’s Oval Track preview time this week. We are blessed with seven of these tracks in our region. Most of them have their schedules already while at least two don’t have their full dates out yet. This year we’ll see two special series. After a two or three year hiatus the Evenson Law Office Ironman Challenge returns. Right now it’s for the IMCA Modifieds but Evenson is checking to see if Hobby Stocks might be included.     Racing is beginning to heat up and locally we’re almost to our first event of the year. This week’s Racing Preview is a mixed bag that contains the first major race in the country, TV and Internet as well as a serious part. First and foremost a local veteran motocross rider and announcer Adam Portue` has been going through some grave medical challenges as he battles cancer. He and his wife Krista are working to pay for all the treatments that Adam is now going through. Right now Adam is unable to work so it’s been a struggle. To help

    It’s the lull before the gathering storm as major series are getting ready to launch their series. Racing Preview for this week again is a bit slim as most things are TV but it’s the lull before the storm. This area’s 2016 season will start four weekends from now. Locally Livfast Exit 28 will again be open for practice sessions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.     First Look at the 2016 racing season has something for almost any race fan. The upcoming season is like looking at a puzzle where most of the pieces are already in place. But there are a few more to be added including three events, two of which are new.
