    RENO, NV (July 21): — Another summer weekend with Racing Preview. Still a bunch on the menu as we are heading into Hot August Nights. Great news as the lights are coming back on for a track in our region. CAR MEETS: • The final Thursday night cruise in Carson City, from 5 until 7 p.m., will meet at Battle Born Harley Davidson. The dealership is located at 2900 Research Way. • The final Friday cruise in at Summit Racing Equipment is this week. Things get rolling around 5 p.m. and the location is 960 E. Glendale Avenue in Sparks.

  • TWO-CAR MEET SUNDAY

    RENO, NV (July 18) — Although the classic car-show in Genoa has to be canceled due to smoke two other car meets were held in Reno. While the turnout was a bit less than usual due to the heat and smoke, both had their share of cars. Reno Cars & Coffee held their meet by the Human Bean coffee stand. It is located near the corner of Keitzke Land and Moana Lane. Looking over the lines of cars part of one row belonged to the NVUS Car Club that came out in force to help support the event.Not far away

    RENO, NV (July 14) — Another summer weekend ahead of us and another banquet of car meets, cruises and racing. Once again there is something for about anyone. CAR MEETS & CRUISES: • This week’s Thursday cruise in Carson City, from 5 until 7:30 p.m. will meet at the Hampton Inn & Suites at 10 Hospitality Way and North Carson. • Friday beginning around 5 p.m. there is another cruise in at Summit Racing Equipment located at 960 East Glendale Ave., in Sparks.   • DESERT PARK RACEWAY: KPX VISITS NNKC

    STEAD, NV (July 11) — On a hot July day the KPX Karting Championship series visited here. The events was hosted by the Northern Nevada Kart Club and as usual some members were intent on defending their home track. Saturday was for practice and qualifying. Sunday began with practice followed by two sets of heat races. Then around 2:30 the mains began. As usual the Kid Kart class started things rolling.   • RENO CARS & COFFEE: JULY 4TH MEET

    RENO, NV (July4) — This year another first of the month for Reno Cars & Coffee happened to fall on July 4th. Despite the weather the turn out was pretty good with a good mix of cars and trucks. Some of the cars were from the Midnight Riders car club and while they parked next to each other many were came solo. One thing about these car meets are the older models that have been restored by their owners. These people have taken these cars, some of whom were abandoned, and given them new life.   • AMERICAN VALLEY SPEEDWAY: HARD RACING IN SUMMER HEAT

    EAST QUINCY, CALIF. (June 19) – American Valley Speedway hosted racing this Friday and Saturday night. Despite the heat Saturday was the scene of some hard racing even though the car counts were on the low side. One visiting driver had recently been inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Motor Sports Hall of Fame.   The IMCA Modified winner Jeff Olschowka recently sold his car but the new owner wasn’t able to race it he did.   • TOP GUN DRAGSTRIP: NHRA NATIONAL OPEN

    FALLON, NV (June 13) – This weekend the Top Gun Dragstrip hosted the NHRA District 7 National Open. As usual their were a lot of cars that towed in some as far away as Texas and Oklahoma.    The drivers were chasing points so they can be in the ET finals in Las Vegas later this year.  While it was warm the races went off without a hitch and there were some close finishes.   Being too eager actually decided several finishes.   • PRO STOCKS VISIT DIAMOND MOUNTAIN

    SUSANVILLE, CA (June 12) – This weekend Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, California had a Friday-Saturday show. In addition to the four regular classes the Tri State Pro Stocks rounded out the racing card.   Saving the best for last the Tri State Pro Stocks first did a four wide salute to the fans.   • CAR SHOW WEEKEND

    RENO, NV (June 6) – This weekend was highlighted by two well attended car shows. One was to benefit Disabled American Veterans while the second, on Sunday, was the first of the month staged by Reno Cars & Coffee.   Saturday began in front of Sportsman’s Warehouse where the 2nd Annual Cars & Stripes Classic Car Celebration was help.   • BATTLE BORN MX AT THE SANBOX

    FERNLEY, NV (May 16) – Once again a huge number of riders converged on the Fernley Motocross Track, otherwise known as the Sandbox. They were there to compete in round 4 of this year’s Battle Born Motocross (BBMX) series.   For many classes there were almost full gates, always a good sign for the future of motocross in our area.   • WESTERN STATES DWARF CAR NATIONALS

    QUINCY, CA (May 15) – The annual visit by the Western States Dwarf Car Association brought 87 of these cars to American Valley Speedway in Quincy. Drivers came from all over the west including a husband-wife driving team that made the 21-hour tow from Colorado.   The race also has another name, as it’s The Dave Richardson Leroy Day Memorial. It honors two racers that competed in Northern Nevada that lost their lives a few years ago. Before the night’s racing got going the drivers did several 4-wife parade laps in their honor.   • DIAMOND MOUNTAIN SPEEDWAY: ROUND 6

    SUSANVILLE, CALIF (May 8) – Once again Diamond Mountain Speedway had a Friday-Saturday double header. On Saturday the Battle Born Winged Sprint Cars visited the track.   Starting the evening were the Mini Stocks and six of them took the lead with Nick Boucher on point. Soon contact brought out a caution and Boucher pitted with a flat while the other car was pushed to the pits. When the green waved again Suzie Schmitt took the lead followed by Johnny Moya with Krazy Kate Robertson giving chase. Once Robertson took second the chase was on as she closed with Schmitt.

    QUINCY, CALIF (May 1) – After being shut down all last season American Valley Speedway reopened and started the 2021 season. Good weather and a good crowd in the stands set the stage for a great night of racing on this May Day night.   Before the mains all classes had heat races.   • RATTLESNAKE RACEWAY SEASON OPENER

    FALLON, NV (April 24) – Rattlesnake Raceway began its 2021 season with a two-day show on Friday and Saturday. While the last day began windy that eased after sunset.   Starting the night were the Hobby Stock racers. When the green waved Richie Altman was briefly in the lead until Victor Richey used an inside pass to take the point.   In back of the leader Jacob Dias was charging through the pack.
