This week’s racing has something for just about any type of racing fan. The biggest event in our area this weekend is the second round of the Over The Hill Gang Nationals hosted by the Reno chapter. Two days of racing, starting around 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Fernley Lions Motocross or the Sandbox as it’s also known. And there will be the traditional BBQ after the races on Saturday. RATTLESNAKE – GOETZ TOPS IMCA AS TRACK HONORS ARMED FORCES DAY. FALLON (May 16) – Rattlesnake Raceway’s latest round featured hard racing, kid’s rides and the track paid tribute to both active military and veterans on Armed Forces Day. In fact the night began with an Armed Forces Day salute where all the cars and Outlaw Karts were on the front straight. DWARF CARS REGIONAL HONORS FALLEN DRIVERS FERNLEY (May 1-2) – 95A Speedway hosted the annual Western States Dwarf Car Regional this weekend. Once again the race honored the memory of Dave Richardson and Leroy Kay, who both perished in a wreck racing accident two years ago. The event is two evenings of hard racing and some strong emotions. 95A SPEEDWAY – COOL NIGHT, HOT RACING FERNLEY (April 24) – The Fernley 95A Speedway dodged a bullet as a passing storm spared the oval. So, despite the cool temperatures, the track was able to welcome back the BCRA (Bay Cities Racing Association) Midgets after an absence of several years. “The car was awesome and it just got better and better.
