This weekend an annual event was held at a oval track in Northern Nevada. LOVELOCK, NV (July30) – Lovelock Speedway hosts two night of races during the town’s annual Frontier Days that honors its founding. This year the racing card had IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stock, 360 Sprint Cars and Dwarf Cars. “We haven’t won all year so got this new DeVilbiss car and we’ve been working, working on it every time we’ve had it out and its getting better and better but we’re not 100% yet but we’re close,” Joel Myers said after winning Saturday’s IMCA 40-lap main.

It was a wild night at Rattlesnake Raceway this weekend. FALLON (July 23) – Rattlesnake Raceway had the prefect storm of multiple car cautions that made for a marathon night. This happened despite the best efforts of the track crew. Before things got rolling the track honored Jim Rains, who was a fixture there during the 1980’s and 90’s. Not only did he race but he built many cars that also competed at Rattlesnake Raceway. Even the moon wasn’t full it was a very different night of racing but the drivers rose to the occasion. FERNLEY (July 16) – 95A Speedway had an odd night this weekend. IRONMAN CHALLENG RECAP: PART 2
Finally the marathon was ending at the fifth track the tour visited. The Ironman Challenge, after visiting four different tracks over an eight-day period headed for its final stop; Rattlesnake Raceway outside of Fallon, Nevada. While the IMCA ranks were thinned the Hobby Stock division stayed pretty stout. For Cory Sample, the IMCA points leader both races might accomplish a milestone he wanted. Leaving 95A Speedway he has 98 victories under his belt and wanted the illusive 100th. In Sunday’s main event it appeared that Robert Miller might play the role of spoiler after leading much of the race.

IRONMAN CHALLENGE RECAP: PART 1
The Ironman Challenge recap is divided and this part covers the first four venues the tour visited. This year was the first Evenson Law Office Ironman Challenge for Hobby Stocks and IMCA Modifieds. It’s a format that favors those taking the long view as there are 10 races over a 10-day period at five different venues. The Ironman Challenge ended here after a marathon of short track racing. Fallon (July 4) – The Ironman Challenge finished here on the track’s traditional 4th of July race. After 10-days of racing the surviving IMCA teams as well as Hobby Stock racers and two supporting classes were set to go. This weekend was a special one for two drivers and one family that honored one they recently lost. FERNLEY (June 4) – 95A Speedway had an interesting race this weekend. One driver achieved a mile stone, another won the big prize and both drivers as well as fans paid homage to the recently deceased father of a racing family. Finally the weather smiled and the racing season began. LOVELOCK (May 20) – Lovelock Speedway finally got its year started after having its first race rained out two weeks ago. After last week’s rains washed out all but one event this week promises good racing weather. Racing preview for this week has a banquet of different events for almost any racing fan. Locally Rattlesnake Raceway will be dark this Saturday due to a national shooting match at the gun club. The track and club share a hill and usually alternate weekends. On a weekend where weather canceled races both here and in California, one track was able to get at least part of its show in. FERNLEY (May 6) – 95A Speedway honored two drivers lost four years ago with the 3rd Annual Richardson-Kay Dwarf Classic this weekend.
