The weekend began with some great racing, that is before Mother Nature threw a wet blanket over it. QUINCY (May 5) – American Valley Speedway hosted the field of 75 Dwarf Cars this weekend. The event was the Western States Dwarf Car Association National Memorial Race. Besides being a National the race honored the memory of two drivers, Dave Richardson and Leroy Kay, who perished in wrecks a few years ago. Before racing began the field lined up, and made a slow four-wide to salute their fallen comrades. Three divisions, Pros, Veterans and Sportsmen were on tap as well as

It’s up against a mountain range and the final drop down to the pits is called “The Widowmaker.” Starting at 4,000 feet this very steep drop is one that even the fastest rider rode with care. First and foremost, Lovelock Speedway has canceled its opening night schedule for this Saturday. The reason is that Winnemucca Regional Raceway is starting their season with a double header. The events sponsor Motel T Hotel and Casino even has rates for those going out there. Gates open at 10 a.m. with racing beginning at noon Saturday and Sunday. As an added incentive Saturday’s IMCA race is $500 to win while

It was pretty exciting actually,” Shawn Natenstedt said after

Racing continues to heat up as another national series begins is season. In our area there is a lull in the action but there will be some action in California. First off I need to correct for something I missed in Monday’s article. Our area now has a sanctioning body for motocross, Battle Born MX. I thought they had a website but I was wrong. They have a Face Book page as the website is being developed and when it is up I’ll be sure to include it. Now on to the Racing Preview. This weekend there will be no

RUMBLE AT RATTLESNAKE
FALLON (Oct. 8) – Rumble at Rattlesnake was a two-day affair to make up for the loss of the Two-Day Shootout that 95A Speedway had scheduled. Due to the low car count it was decided to use the format like the Dirt Track Championships use. A driver’s combined finishes both days would determine their final position and what payout they would receive. There was also a twist to the rules so an IMCA or Pro Stock driver could take the roof of their racer off and go “topless.” And a few did that exact thing. The Hobby Stock main

DIRT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS AND SUPER CRAWL
This was a weekend of contrasts between two events. FALLON (Sept 24/25) – Dirt Track Championships and Super Crawl were two very different four-wheel events that dominated the racing in this area. One was fast while the other was way more technical and a heck of a lot slower. For the past two decades the annual DTC as it’s known ends the season at Rattlesnake Raceway located just east of downtown Fallon. Not only is money at stake but bragging rights as well. The weekend has two complete shows, one Saturday evening while the second is Sunday afternoon. And a
