This week’s Racing Preview shows that spring is fast approaching as the second desert race of the season is upon us and the first motocross in our region is only one week away. Locally Livfast Exit 28 will once again host practice sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. This weekend the Cheaters and Rimbenders clubs combine forces to bring the Rhino Roller 100 out at Blue Wing Flat. That’s a location northwest of Toulon, which is this side of Lovelock. RENO MOTORSPORTS
We here at www.nvracingnews.com wish welcome our first advertiser to this site. Reno Motorsports or RMS, is well known to the motorcycle riding, off-road and motocross community here in Northern Nevada. The shop was started by two friends, Dennis “The Desert Fox,’ Belingheri and Paul “Ziggy,” Ziegler after they moved up here from Southern Nevada. Ziggy explained they both had experience working in motorcycle shops and once here decided to open RMS rather than buy houses. After starting the shop in 1996 they saw a need to help expand off-road racing in this area and in 1998 started MRANN, Motorcycle

MRANN AT NIGHTINGALE
Another season begins with the Desert Fox schooling his younger competitors NIGHTINGALE (Feb. 14.) – As is traditional, MRANN (Motorcycle Racing Association of Northern Nevada) began its season on President’s Day weekend. And a large field of big bike riders showed up for Sunday’s race. This time not only was there speed but some passions were fired up during the event that consisted of one 43-mile loop followed by a 53-mile loop. Any rider wanting to be considered a finisher had to complete one loop. For one veteran it was a day of triumph and some redemption as well as

Austin Serpa – MRANN 2015 CHAMPION
Austin Serpa had a championship year this season as he raced his KTM in area desert races. Winning races is the goal of any racer and while most never accomplish this they have fun trying. However some do win titles and earning an overall championship in their rookie year is an even greater accomplishment. And that’s exactly what one 16-year-old high school racer did this past season. Like many motorcycle racers, he got an early start in the two-wheeled world. “I remember when I first started riding I was about 2-years-old with some training wheels on a little PW50,” Austin

RACING PREVIEW: OCT. 15-18
Racing preview for this weekend has a unique and major event this weekend as well as desert motorcycle racing action. The Nitto Tire Ultra 4 Nationals moves into Wild West Motorsports Park for a Saturday race. If you’ve never seen this event it is one of the wildest races on the planet. An Ultra 4 is a cross between an all out desert racer and a rock crawler. And they do race across two fields of rocks, and those rocks, well they’re more like boulders. Saturday is when the main action happened and things really start going around 10 a.m.
