The Racing Preview this week has local motocross riders riding to help a local family with medical costs. Racing preview this week begins with a charity event put on by Livfast Exit 28 motocross track. Local racer Tyler Moore has an infant nephew that has already gone through one heart operation. RACING PREVIEW – JULY 23-26
Racing preview this week covers the only area track in action as well as a host of events on TV and the Internet. This week local racing is a bit on the slim side but there still is one track in operation. Saturday, starting at 6 p.m. Rattlesnake Raceway, located just east of downtown Fallon, hosts another race featuring both the car classes and Outlaw Karts. Livfast Exit 28 and Moto Source teamed up to host a night of motocross action. PATRICK (July 18) – Livfast Exit 28, with title sponsor Moto Source staged the year’s only night motocross. Usually there aren’t any races like this in the area so around 200 riders showed up to take advantage of this one off event. RACING PREVIEW – JULY 9-12
Another week of varied motorsports for the racing fan, including some in this region. One of the biggest events this weekend will happen at Livfast Exit 28, located east of Sparks. The track is hosting what probably will be the only night motocross this summer. There will be practice sessions on Friday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Then practice resumes at 3 p.m. Saturday with the first motos slated to start right after that, as they’ll race into the night. Racing preview for this weekend has a mix of local and national events to see. Racing this week is a bit light locally but heavy on the TV and Internet side of things. HERRING MEMORIAL HONORS FALLEN RIDER AND ENDS SPRING SEASON FOR MRANN. FERNLEY (June 21) – The Herring Memorial race on Father’s Day weekend honors a young rider that was lost seven years ago. This time, the sixth anniversary race, was staged at the Sandbox, or the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Park using all the available track, so one loop was between two and three miles. This week’s racing has a mix of two- and four-wheel action in our region. The Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track will be in action as MRANN ends its spring desert-racing season. It’s the annual Corey Herring Memorial race but this time in a short track configuration. On Saturday, from 8 to 10 a.m. the big bikes can practice then at 10:30 a.m. the Pee Wee riders take center stage. Octane Fest brings color and speed to Fallon. The Octane Fest rolls into Fallon this weekend for three days and evenings of action packed motorsports. In addition two regional tracks will also be staging their own races. On Friday evening at 7 p.m. the Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race while, up at Susanville, at that same time Diamond Mountain Speedway, located at the fairgrounds, will also be in action. THE ANNUAL OTHG NATIONALS INVADE THE SANDBOX AT FERNLEY FERNLEY (May 24) – The annual OTHG Nationals at the Sandbox or Fernley Lions Motocross track is a sure sign it’s Memorial Day weekend and signals the start of summer. The local Over The Hill Gang chapter has been staging this race for many years. This week’s racing has something for just about any type of racing fan. The biggest event in our area this weekend is the second round of the Over The Hill Gang Nationals hosted by the Reno chapter. Two days of racing, starting around 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Fernley Lions Motocross or the Sandbox as it’s also known. And there will be the traditional BBQ after the races on Saturday. VCGP HISTORY MAKING DAY VIRGINIA CITY (April 26) – After crazy weather on Saturday Mother Nature blessed Sunday’s race with mild, sunny and dry conditions. And that set the stage for a historical day on the Comstock. On Saturday the pros, expert and amateurs race but Sunday is reserved for Novice, Women, Bombers and Vintage Bikes.
