The season ending event for MRANN was held under almost perfect weather and had a good field of competitors. MOON ROCKS (Oct. 30) – MRANN staged its traditional Halloween/Nevada Day race at the Moon Rocks OHV area. While the day began nice the weather went downhill after the Big Bike start.. This race, the Halloween Hare Scrambles, was named the Moonrocks Revenge 100 and hosted by the Rimbenders and Cheaters Motorcycle Clubs. The big bike course was 25 miles long so to be classed as a finisher a rider, unless they were over 60-years old, had to complete two laps. FALL MX CLASSIC: ROUND 3 AT FERNLEY
Fall MX Classic returned to the Fernley Lion’s Motocross track, or the Sandbox, this weekend. Since there were just over 250 riders on hand it took 21 motos to get all the classes their sets of motos.The one exception was the club race and that usually only has one moto. There were six pros that lined up and Reno’s Billy Adam had their measure. He led from start to finish in both of his motos giving him a sweep of the weekend.. MRANN AT NIGHTINGALE: DESERT FOX WINS
The local desert racers faced off east of Fernley for another round of competition. Nightingale (Oct 9) – MRANN at Nightingale brought two days of desert racing blessed by Mother Nature with fantastic weather. Unlike the season opener, which was north of here, this race was located six miles up the frontage road on the south side of I-80. This was hosted by the Tank Slappers Motorcycle Club, which named it “The Jackass Strikes Back Hare Scrambles.” On Sunday, after the riders meeting everyone lined up in their respective ranks. WILD HORSE HARE SCRAMBLES: CRAZY DAY
The latest round of the MRANN fall series was very different than anyone expected. TOULON (Sept 25.) – Wild Horse Hare Scrambles is the second race in this year’s fall series for MRANN. The host club was Western States Racing Association and AMA District 36. Great weather and a large rider count promised an epic day for racing. FLAT TRACK RACING RETURNS TO CARSON CITY
After a decades long absence a popular event returned to our area. CARSON CITY (Aug. 29) – Flat Track Racing returned to Northern Nevada this weekend thanks to the combined efforts of On Trak Promotions and the California Flat Track Association (CFTA). The result was a sell out crowd of 1,600 fans as well as over 150 entries and 27 pros from several disciplines arrived to race on the paper clip shaped track The afternoon was a blizzard of heat races and amateur mains. In the evening the main show would end with the Open Pro racing for the money.

SILVER STATE MOTOCLIMB AT WILD WEST
A new event was held this weekend, first time in many years there was a hill climb. MUSTANG (Jun 4) – The Silver State Motoclimb made its initial appearance this weekend at the Wild West Motorsports Park located east of Sparks. The facility carved out a hill that rose 400 feet above the infield and combined both the hill and some motocross type turns in it. Once again an annual rite of spring has happened as racers converged on the Comstock. VIRGINIA CITY (April 30) – The 45th annual Virginia City Grand Prix is a sure sign of spring in Northwest Nevada. The Comstock Classic is a two-day affair and attracts riders from across the west. Saturday is for the pros, experts and amateurs as they race a four-hour timed event. RACING PREVIEW: APRIL 7 TO 10
This week there is racing live, on TV and the Internet. Racing preview for this week has a mix of events for both the two-wheel and oval track fans. Once again there will be no practice at the Livfast Exit 28 motocross track as they are preparing for their next race. Fernley 95A Speedway will host its second race of the season Saturday with a 2 p.m. start time. All the car classes will be in action on the oval. Motocross racers competing in the 775 Spring Classic Series will head for Winnemucca for the third round of their series.

SANDBOX STIRRED UP BY MOTOCROSS
Beautiful weather set the stage for a great day of motocross racing this weekend. The Sandbox, or Fernley Lion’s Motocross track, was the scene of the second 775 Spring Classic motocross series. This time the Over The Hill Gang staged the event. Layne Kolbet, OTHG president said they had 189 riders sign up for practice on Saturday so attendance was probably over 200.
