    Mustang – The Battle Born Moto Fest returned to the Wild West Motorsports Park this weekend. Unlike last year it was a two-day affair with two very different events. While Freestyle MX was planned the winds were too great for that to happen. However the rest of the racing went on.     FERNLEY (May 28) – A Memorial Day weekend tradition is the annual Over The Hill Gang National race at the Sandbox, or the Fernley-Wadsworth Lions Club Motocross Track. Riders from several Gang chapters make this journey for two days of racing, comradeship and a darned good BBQ at the end of Saturday’s competition. And once again the hosts was the local OTHG chapter. Scoring is kind of like golf as a rider’s finish in a moto gives them the number, which is added up after all four have been run.     Racing returned to Fernley this weekend at the Wadsworth/Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track. FERNLEY (May 14) – Battle Born MX celebrated Mother’s Day by returning to the Sandbox as its known for round 4 of its spring series. The hosting club this time was the Old Timer’s Motorcycle club.     Although shorter the second day of this year’s VCGP was historic.   VIRGINIA CITY (April 30) – The annual Virginia City Grand Prix is divided into separate parts depending on which class a person races in. On the second day Novice, Women, Bombers and Vintage bikes take their turn on the course.     Saturday is when the pros, experts and amateurs race in the Comstock Classic. VIRGINIA CITY (April 29) – The Virginia City Grand Prix (VCGP) has been held 46 out of last 47 years. Known for being a huge challenge the event brings riders from across the west to the Comstock. This year, due to the storms in winter, the course was rougher than usual.   • MRANN: HONEA WINS DIAMOND BACK H.S.

    SAGE, CALIFORNIA (April 9) – MRANN’s fourth round of their season was the 2017 Diamond Back Hare Scrambles. Staged by the Lassen M/C it was the 50th anniversary of the event that began in 1967 as an enduro race. The event was run at the Ft. Sage OHV area east of Doyle, California. It’s up against a mountain range and the final drop down to the pits is called “The Widowmaker.” Starting at 4,000 feet this very steep drop is one that even the fastest rider rode with care.   • ARENACROSS: AMATEUR DAY AT LEC

    RENO (March 26) – Arenacross is divided in two; the Pros race on Saturday or Friday if it’s a two-day show. But at every stop Sunday is reserved for amateurs and they run after the course has been altered for safety. Sunday at the Livestock Events Center started early as each rider either qualifies in heat races for their main event or has to accomplish this in an LCQ. Like in years past there was a large group of riders so to get them all in 27 short races were scheduled although two were combined to make it 25 events.

    The first race of the new motocross season happened on Sunday. FERNLEY, March 12 – Motocross season began here as the first round of the new Battle Born MX series started at the Sandbox, or the Wadsworth/Fernley Lion’s Club Motocross track as it’s formally known. There were so many riders on hand that it took 19 motos to get all the classes in. One of the wilder starts happened during the first 250/450 Intermediate and Pro moto. NIGHTINGALE (Feb. 19) – MRANN started its racing season with the Battle Born 100 presented by the Trail Blazers Motorcycle Club. It was the 19th edition of this event.
