    Racing preview for this week includes regional action as well as what will be on TV and the Internet. Two regional tracks are in action this week with programs that should be full of hard racing.   Fernley 95A Speedway begins their show Saturday at 6 p.m. and this week, during intermission, there will be Compact Car Hockey as well drawings to give some lucky kids in the crowd bicycles.   Then on Sunday, down in Quincy, California, the annual Fair Races will start at 7 p.m. as American Valley Speedway hosts a show featuring IMCA Modifieds, Hobby and Mini

    Exit 28 Ride Day to help a family

    The Racing Preview this week has local motocross riders riding to help a local family with medical costs. Racing preview this week begins with a charity event put on by Livfast Exit 28 motocross track. Local racer Tyler Moore has an infant nephew that has already gone through one heart operation.   And the baby needs another one so Saturday’s ride day will be a fundraiser for the family. The hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., there’ll be raffles and donations will also be accepted. Sunday’s practice schedule will have the usual schedule. Locally, only one race is

    Livfast Exit 28 and Moto Source teamed up to host a night of motocross action. PATRICK (July 18) – Livfast Exit 28, with title sponsor Moto Source staged the year’s only night motocross. Usually there aren’t any races like this in the area so around 200 riders showed up to take advantage of this one off event. With so many classes to combine or run separately it took 17 motos to give everyone a chance to race. After the first set then the order started all over again.     Racing preview for this week not only has local events, big news from the motocross world, but a list of what can been seen by racing fans. This week’s racing locally includes three types of motorsports plus a variety on TV and the Internet. And there is a special heads up for a unique NASCAR race next Wednesday.     Another week of varied motorsports for the racing fan, including some in this region. One of the biggest events this weekend will happen at Livfast Exit 28, located east of Sparks. The track is hosting what probably will be the only night motocross this summer. There will be practice sessions on Friday from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. Then practice resumes at 3 p.m. Saturday with the first motos slated to start right after that, as they’ll race into the night.     This week’s racing has a mix of two- and four-wheel action in our region. The Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track will be in action as MRANN ends its spring desert-racing season. It’s the annual Corey Herring Memorial race but this time in a short track configuration.   On Saturday, from 8 to 10 a.m. the big bikes can practice then at 10:30 a.m. the Pee Wee riders take center stage.     Octane Fest brings color and speed to Fallon. The Octane Fest rolls into Fallon this weekend for three days and evenings of action packed motorsports. In addition two regional tracks will also be staging their own races. On Friday evening at 7 p.m. the Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race while, up at Susanville, at that same time Diamond Mountain Speedway, located at the fairgrounds, will also be in action.     This weekend’s racing will be a little less frantic that it was on Memorial Day Sunday. But there still is a pretty good variety for fans to choose from.   This afternoon there is a special event for youngsters. The AC/DC Bike Camp has demonstration rides at the Double Diamond Athletic Club.     THE ANNUAL OTHG NATIONALS INVADE THE SANDBOX AT FERNLEY FERNLEY (May 24) – The annual OTHG Nationals at the Sandbox or Fernley Lions Motocross track is a sure sign it’s Memorial Day weekend and signals the start of summer. The local Over The Hill Gang chapter has been staging this race for many years. Beautiful weather set the stage as 209 riders were ready to race as well 50 support racers on Saturday and a few more than that on Sunday.     This week’s racing has something for just about any type of racing fan. The biggest event in our area this weekend is the second round of the Over The Hill Gang Nationals hosted by the Reno chapter. Two days of racing, starting around 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, at the Fernley Lions Motocross or the Sandbox as it’s also known. And there will be the traditional BBQ after the races on Saturday.      RACING PREVIEW FOR THE WEEKEND This week has both oval and drag racing for area fans.   Things begin Friday as Fernley 95A Speedway hosts the 2nd annual Dave Richardson & Leroy Kay Memorial race. It’s a Western Dwarf Car regional. On both Friday and Saturday qualifying begins at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. These little speedsters usually put on quite a show.     TIEARNEY SWEEPS PROS AT MOTOCROSS   FERNLEY (April 12) – The spring motocross series ended here Sunday. And it was the first event put on by the newly reformed Old Timers chapter. Both president Jeff McCollum and Eric McElroy, with assistance from the Over the Hill Gang set the stage for a day of hard racing at the Sandbox, or the Fernley Lion’s Motocross Track.
