    NNKC Beats the heat for a day of hot racing.   Stead (June 28) – A forecast of a high temperatures didn’t deter the hardcore members of the Northern Nevada Kart Club. They showed up anyway and, thanks to the cloud cover, had a pretty nice day of racing. The Senior Clone main was one of the great races of the day.   • THIS WEEK’S RACING PREVIEW

         THIS WEEK’S RACING PREVIEW ISN’T AS FRANTIC AS THE LAST ONE. Although there is less racing going on in our region this weekend there are still some things for fans so see and attend. Rattlesnake Raceway, east of downtown Fallon, has another points race Saturday for the cars but this time there will be Mud Drags to round out the program.   • OCTANE FEST COMES TO FALLON

    Octane Fest brings color and speed to Fallon. The Octane Fest rolls into Fallon this weekend for three days and evenings of action packed motorsports. In addition two regional tracks will also be staging their own races. On Friday evening at 7 p.m. the Lovelock Speedway hosts another points race while, up at Susanville, at that same time Diamond Mountain Speedway, located at the fairgrounds, will also be in action.   • HOT RACING AT DESERT PARK

    Hot racing at Desert Park matched the temperature on Sunday. STEAD (June 7) – Hot racing on a hot day at Desert Park Raceway this Sunday as NNKC staged its latest round of the season.   • WHAT’S RACING FOR – JUNE 4-7

    What’s racing this weekend is packed days of motorsport action that has something for almost anybody. If the weather holds local race fans are in for a treat. On Friday, starting at 7 p.m., Lovelock Speedway has a make up race for the one rained out in May. Top Gun Raceway, located south of Fallon, hosts another $5 Friday where people can test and tune their cars on the drag strip.     Rattlesnake hosts a night of cautions and carnage under an almost full moon.   FERNLEY (May 30) – There is a long-standing superstition about racing under a full moon. Although it wasn’t a full moon Saturday, it might as well have been. And the fans at Rattlesnake Raceway, well they got a night full of action.     NNKC ROUND FEATURES MUCH HARD RACING AND SOME VERY CLOSE FINISHES STEAD (May 17) – The latest round for the Nevada Kart Club was run Sunday at Desert Park Raceway. Despite the threat of rain the “hurry up,” schedule allowed all the heats and races to be completed by early in the afternoon.     HOT RACING ON A COOL NIGHT AT RATTLESNAKE 2015 OPENING EVENT   FALLON (April 4) – In what’s becoming a tradition in area oval track racing, Rattlesnake Raceway opened its 2015 season Saturday of Easter weekend.     RENO (Dec. 6) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club gathered at the Grand Sierra Resort to pay tribute to its volunteers and honor its champions from the 2014 season.   When the meeting got going outgoing president Brian Rivera asked for several moments of silence in memory of a club member that passed two weeks earlier. Jeff Cloutier was a veteran racer, starting in motocross, moving to stockcars then to karts and he will be missed by those that knew him. Rivera and Ed Diederich handled the MC chores.       Biggest happening in Nevada is down south where NASCAR has invaded Las Vegas for its Sprint Cup Championship week. And on Wednesday it was announced that Fox Sports and NBC Sports are combining forces to televise NASCAR events. The agreement is for 10-years with Fox doing the first half of the season, including the Daytona 500 and NBC Sports taking the second half, which will include the Chase for the Championship.
