Racing is really heating up as series are getting started both nationally and internationally week. Racing preview for this week has local happenings that lead into the new season, which starts next week. Out in the Fallon area two tracks have having test-and-tune sessions. South of town, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Top Gun Raceway has testing for drag racers. SEASON REVIEW FOR 2015
Season Review of the 2015 year in racing for this region. With the year ending it’s time to take a look at this past season and set the stage for what is to come in the New Year. NNKC AWARDS BANQUET
NNKC awards banquet is an annual gathering where the club ends its season and begins to look forward to the new season. RENO (Nov. 14) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) gathered together to honor its champions, trophy winners and special people that helped this past season. The location was the Grand Sierra Hotel and Casino for this festive occasion. The highest honor the club awards is Karter of the Year and the winner gets to keep the trophy for a year. NNKC: RICK JEROME MEMORIAL RACE
NNKC ended its season honoring one of its own as well as setting championships for a few classes. STEAD (Oct. 3) – Every year the Northern Nevada Kart Club (NNKC) honors one of its founders with a memorial night race. The late Rick Jerome helped move the club from racing in parking lots to having a track of its own; Desert Park Raceway. Racing preview for this week is a buffet of different types of racing, live, on TV and the Internet. There is a varied menu for racing fans in this area with three different live events to fill the weekend. On Saturday afternoon the Northern Nevada Kart will bring down the curtain on their season with the annual night race at Desert Park Raceway. Rattlesnake Raceway hosted a night full of carnage, cautions and hard racing. Fallon (July 25) – It was a wild night, at least for the cars at Rattlesnake Speedway this week. NNKC beats the heat for a hot day of racing at Desert Park. STEAD (July 19) – NNKC (Northern Nevada Kart Club) staged the sixth round of its points season this weekend at Desert Park Raceway. During the mains there were some very tight races and one young driver got the thrill of his life.
