NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB: ROUND 5
STEAD, NV (JULY 17) — A week after the KPX series visited Desert Park Raceway the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosted the next round of their 2022 season on the same track configuration. Due to the forecast hot weather, and that only two Kid Kart drivers their first heat was during qualifying for everyone. That way they ran their six-lap feature when the second heat was running for everyone else. On the green, from a standing start both boys were nose-to-tail for the first third of the race. An error by Hunter Nelson dropped him behind and gave Davey Jorgenson

NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB: A BREEZY RACE DAY
STEAD, NV (June 12) — The Northern Nevada Kart Club held the fourth round of its season at their track, Desert Park Raceway. To say it was breezy would be an understatement as many times the “breeze,” seemed more like a gale. Because of this the barriers on the front stretch were tied to the fence with wire. However one section wasn’t and had to be strapped so it would not be blown onto the front stretch. Some thing this reporter has never seen in all the years I’ve reported these races. Due to rain earlier the program was changed

STEAD, NV (May, 23) – Despite a rainy morning that had a start and stop effect on the race the NNKC got its thir point’s race of the season in. Once again there was a good turn out of drivers. Desert Park can be configured several different ways. This time the hill was not part of it and after entering Turn 3 the drivers went through the other end in a reverse direction before heading up toward Turn 7. This changed the best places to pass. SEASON IN REVIEW: NORTHERN NEVADA KART CLUB
RENO, NV (Nov. 29) – It’s that time again to take a look back at this unusual season so I’ll begin with the Northern Nevada Kart Club. Due to the pandemic restrictions the originally scheduled rounds, April 19 and May 10 were canceled, actually postponed. Then in June the club was able to get its season rolling. Two events however were never reinstated as KPX canceled its season so no race here. Then the Mike Arnold Enduro, slated

DESERT PARK RACEWAY: NNKC ROUND#5
STEAD, NV (Sept 20) – Due to the Air Races being canceled this year the Northern Nevada Kart Club was able to squeeze in an extra race. This helped make up the events lost due to the shut down earlier this season. Nice weather and almost no smoke made for great racing weather. The day was bookended with two pretty good races with several in the middle. This time a slightly different track lay out was used as the hill was out and everyone got two extra laps as this configuration makes for a shorter course. First up were the

Despite some smoke the turn out was pretty good and fortunately the day wasn’t as hot as expected. As usual the mains began with Kid Kart feature. Going in it appeared Drake Kephart would make it a sweep. However in racing nothing is certain until one passes by the checkered flag. Only a lap or two into the race Kephart spun in the final turn complex. By the time he got turned around, with
