RENO, NV (Oct. 27) — Been a busy weekend as we celebrated Nevada Day, there were several Trunk or Treat events plus a Cars & Coffee meet on Sunday. • Friday started when the Off Road Warehouse, on Victorian Avenue in Sparks, scheduled a get together. RENO, NV (Oct. 20) — It was a mixed bag this weekend with a car show for a benefit then two meets to show off cars. Sunday afternoon at the Automobile Museum there was a planning meeting setting the stage to bringing back an popular event next year. • Saturday started with Binders for Boobies, a car show to benefit Pinocchio’s Moms on the Reno. RENO, NV (Oct. 8) — After posting the Dirt Track Championship report I realized there were a few loose ends that I wanted to tie up. Have to thank Mark Hain and Brett Wilkins for their help. This past year the IMCA classes, in addition to racing at individual tracks were part of the NAPA “ Know How 2 Get ‘er Done” series. Seven tracks and with the usual two-day format there were 13 races for points, with the final round at Rattlesnake Raceway this week. RENO, NV (Sept. 26) — Missed one important item in my current preview article and was informed about a cancellation and rescheduling of another race. First and foremost, apologies to the folks out at Battle Mountain Raceway. Somehow I missed their final date and thanks to Dan Dias was informed it’s for the Silver Cup. RAD CLEANS UP PUBLIC LAND ON PEAVINE
RENO, NV (Sept. 7) — Reno Area Dirt Riders (RAD) held a clean up on the Peavine Summit Road Saturday morning. Something they that helps keep the public lands clear of refuse and it helps the Forest Service. It took weeks of effort between RAD president Mike Marcum and Brad Moore. They divided the labor with Moore getting the prizes and doing the promotional material. Mercum was dealing with the computer issues as well as working with the Reno City Council and Forest Service. WEEKEND CAR MEETS DRAW MANY CLASSICS
RENO, NV (Aug 25) — Two car meets bookended the weekend. One was for veterans while the other ended a series of six summer meets. • Saturday began in front of Sportsman Warehouse where the annual Cars and Strips Classic Car Celebration happened. STADIUM GP AT THE RENO RODEO ARENA
RENO, NV (March 24, 2024) — This May the Stadium Grand Prix will be held at the outdoor arena, the same venue the Reno Rodeo uses. It’s a partnership between two long time friends. RENO-FERNLEY RACEWAY IS RENEWED
Reno-Fernley Raceway has been divided between two owners for years. One had the clay oval, UTV and motocross track while the other owned the road course. Now it’s unified under the new owner Dan Shore, who has some big plans for the facility, which includes some of the hills. “I bought the road course roughly May 1918,” Shore said. “I originally had purchase conversations with the pervious owner Dan Simpson about a year after that. RENO, NV (Dec. 3) — This Sunday three groups come together to help youngsters in our community. To the east the newly restored Sandbox MX track held its first motocross Saturday. The biggest event Sunday was the 43rd annual Reno Toy Run was held and bike clubs of all kinds met at Reno Harley Davidson. This annual event is staged by the Northern Nevada Confederation of Clubs.
