    Once again it’s going to be a jam packed weekend of racing action. Motorsport Preview for this weekend is another buffet that’s large enough to satisfy any fan, not matter what their hunger is for racing. The big event in our region is the grand reopening of Hawthorne Speedway, a track that’s been dark for almost 20-years. It’s a festival down there as Saturday is Armed Forces Day.     Despite Mother Nature playing tricks all the races were able to be completed. QUINCY (May 14) – American Valley Speedway staged the first of its $1,000 to win races for the IMCA Modifieds this weekend.     After dodging rain during their last race, area go kart racers were blessed with an almost perfect weekend.   STEAD (May 15) – NNKC (Northern Nevada Kart Club assembled this weekend for the third race in its 2016 season.     After last week’s rains washed out all but one event this week promises good racing weather. Racing preview for this week has a banquet of different events for almost any racing fan. Locally Rattlesnake Raceway will be dark this Saturday due to a national shooting match at the gun club. The track and club share a hill and usually alternate weekends.     On a weekend where weather canceled races both here and in California, one track was able to get at least part of its show in. FERNLEY (May 6) – 95A Speedway honored two drivers lost four years ago with the 3rd Annual Richardson-Kay Dwarf Classic this weekend. Not only does the event honor both David Richardson and Leroy Kay but the event is a Western States Dwarf Car Association Regional. The race looked to be even bigger than last year.     Weather could affect local racing this weekend but we’ll have to wait and see. This week is a bit slim as we head into May and local events could be affected by the weather, in fact some are. VIRGINIA CITY (April 30) – The 45th annual Virginia City Grand Prix is a sure sign of spring in Northwest Nevada. The Comstock Classic is a two-day affair and attracts riders from across the west.
