    After being dark for several years a popular motocross park reopens with a special race. MILFORD, CALIF. (June 19) – MRANN (Motorcycle Racing Association of Northern Nevada) made its return to the newly reopened Honey Lake MX Park this weekend. It was the annual Corey Herring Memorial “Go Big or Go Home!” race. The event honors the young rider lost eight years ago and helps fund scholarships created in his name.     Once again Stead Airport was alive with the sounds of racing aircraft but this time the pilots were coming to be schooled in the fine art of air racing.   STEAD (June 18) – The Pylon Racing Seminar made its annual visit to the airport here. Any pilot that wants to compete at the air races, is changing classes or hasn’t raced in a while has to go through this course. Veterans also attend as it’s a way to get more time on the course.     Motorsport Preview for this week has a whole lot of motorcycle action, some oval track racing, national as well as international events. For motocross riders that want some practice Livfast Exit 28 MX track will host practice sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. But the big event is south of here as the annual Mammoth Motocross begins on Friday and runs through Sunday, June 26. All age groups are covered and it draws riders from all over.     Due to the length of the article I am putting these photos in a gallery. Octane Fest in Fallon is a celebration of speed and color. It is held in three different venues and two of the are Top Gun Raceway, located south of the town, as well as the Churchill County Fairgrounds, located near downtown. In the event article I missed who won the Top Comp division at the drag strip. Well got word too late to include it that the two drivers that would have been in the final decided to skip that run due to the weather.

    Every June people flock to one of Nevada’s towns to celebrate several kinds of motorsports.   FALLON (June 11,12) – Octane Fest is an annual celebration of horsepower, speed and color put on in this Nevada town. Rattlesnake Speedway, Top Gun Raceway and the Churchill County Fairground host many events during the three days and nights the festival runs.     This weekend was a special one for two drivers and one family that honored one they recently lost. FERNLEY (June 4) – 95A Speedway had an interesting race this weekend. One driver achieved a mile stone, another won the big prize and both drivers as well as fans paid homage to the recently deceased father of a racing family. Early in the evening the track honored Steve Rauscher, who recently passed away. His sons, Darrick and Dave race as well as some of the grandchildren, who compete in Outlaw Karts.     Good weather blessed the latest race for NNKC and racers answered with a day of speed. STEAD (June 5) – The Northern Nevada Kart Club raced round four of its 2016 season at Desert Park Raceway on Sunday. While it was warm the weather wasn’t too bad as everyone was ready to go.     A new event was held this weekend, first time in many years there was a hill climb. MUSTANG (Jun 4) – The Silver State Motoclimb made its initial appearance this weekend at the Wild West Motorsports Park located east of Sparks. The facility carved out a hill that rose 400 feet above the infield and combined both the hill and some motocross type turns in it.     When it’s Memorial Day weekend its also time for vet racers to grab their bikes and visit Northwest Nevada. The OTHG (Over The Hill Gang) Nationals second round of the series was held at the Fernley Lions Club’s Motocross track in Fernley. It’s a Memorial Day weekend tradition that draws local riders as well as those in California chapters. Layne Kolbet, president of the hosting Reno chapter said there were 266 veteran riders on hand.     This time the weather gods once again smiles on the Northern Nevada Kart Club. STEAD (May 22) – NNKC’s (Northern Nevada Kart Club) first race of the season was a rain out but today the club made it up.
