RACING PREVIEW: MARCH 5 TO 8

RENO, NV (March 4) – This week’s Racing Preview is a mixed bag with a special announcement. There should be wonderful weather this week to enjoy the outside things.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Saturday is NHRA Chassis Certification Day at Summit Racing.

• For you drag racing types this is the weekend to get your chassis certificated. NHRA inspector Launie Porteous will be at Summit Racing, located at 960 East Glendale Avenue in Sparks, from 9 until 1 p.m.

Daylight Savings Time reminder.

• The other announcement is that we switch to Daylight Saving Time in the wee hours of Sunday. Be sure to set your clocks one hour ahead or you might be late getting to places you need to be at.

CAR MEETS:

Drift Intervention season opener poster.

• On Friday starting at 7 p.m. Drift Intervention is having at Season Opener party at Boba Carshop. It’s located at 52 Hardy Drive in Sparks. Should being a bunch of interesting cars to the get together.

• Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. is when Sparks Cars and Coffee has their monthly meet by Buffalo Wild Wings in Sparks Good weather should being a lot of cars to admire and enjoy.

MOTORCYCLES:

• Here is the practice schedules for the four Northern California motocross tracks.

     + MMX Racing has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday then from 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday.

     + Riverfront has practice from 4 until 9 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

     + E street has practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

     _ Prairie City has practice from noon until 5 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

No word yet on practice at 95 Motor Sport Complex motocross track so please check their Face Book page at Fernely Ninety Five Speedway.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):

• As usual Thursday is pretty slim but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. by NASCAR Race Hub on Fox Sports 1.

• Things heat up on Friday as Fox Sports 1 starts the day with Xfinity qualifying from Phoenix followed at 12:30 by Cup practice. Then at 2 p.m. Xfinity has its final practice followed at 2:30 by the Cup practice.

Then at 4 p.m. the network airs the ARCA race from this one-mile bullring.

• Saturday gets going at 10 a.m. on Fox Sports 1 as the Xfiinity cars qualify then at 11:30 the NASCAR Cup drivers also qualify. After that at 1 p.m. the network airs the Xfinity race.

Out in Daytona it’s the start of Bike Week and the Supercross series takes to a track inside the tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway. It’s always an action packed race.

• Sunday begins on CBS Sports at 8 a.m. when Snowmobile racing is broadcast.

Over on NBC Sports the scheduled Moto GP race has been altered due to the Corona virus. The broadcast begins at 9:30 but the premier class has been canceled. This is due to so many teams coming out of Italy. However Moto 2 and 3 will race at Qatar.

Back home Fox, at 12:30 p.m. airs the NASCAR Cup race from Phoenix ending NASCAR’s western swing.

Then at 7 p.m. CBS Sports comes back and airs the GT World Challenge race from Austin, Texas at the Circuit of the Americas.
