RENO, NV (Feb. 26) – Racing Preview for this week is a bit light in our area but there will be plenty to watch on TV. Getting closer to spring when more and more racing happens.
CAR MEETS:
• Reno Cars and Coffee gets March rolling with another meet, starting at 10 a.m. Sunday by the Keitzke Starbucks. Even though the weather might be iffy there should be some of the hard core bringing their cars to display.
MOTOCROSS AND OFF ROAD:
• VORRA is having a test and tune practice day, with a free BBQ as well, this Sunday from 10 to 5 p.m. at Prairie City. Be sure to check first as incoming weather could be a problem.
• Here are the practice times for the Northern California and Nevada Motocross tracks. Once again weather either Saturday or Sunday might change things so check the track’s website first.
+ Riverfront – Thursday 4 until 9 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
+ Prairie City – Thursday from noon until 5 p.m. then 9 till 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
+ E Street – Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
+ MMX Racing – Practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday then 9 until 3 p.m. Sunday.
+ 95 Motor Sports Complex motocross track is going this weekend. Open practice runs from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• Thursday has two live programs with NBC Sports starting at 2 p.m. with NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. as Fox Sports 2 airs NASCAR Race Hub.
• Friday is a busy day as two of NASCAR’s top divisions are spending the weekend at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.
Fox Sports 1 gets rolling at noon with Xfinity practice followed at 1 p.m. with NASCAR Cup practice. Then at 2 p.m. the Xfinity drivers get their final practice followed by cup practice.
• Fox Sports 1 continues with the heavy lifting as they broadcast Xfinity qualifying at 10 a.m. then Cup qualifying at 11:30 a.m. The Xfinity race is broadcast starting at 1p.m.
Over on Fox Sports 2 at 9 a.m. they show the Formula E event this week from Marrakesh. Then at midnight the second round begins.
NBC Sports has this week’s AMA Supercross event from Atlanta starting at 2 p.m.
• Fox Sports 2 gets Sunday rolling at 5:30 a.m. with the second Formula E race from Marrakesh. Then at 12:30 p.m. FOX takes over and broadcasts the NASCAR Cup race from the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.
Not to be left out CBS Sports has some events to broadcast. First starting at 8 a.m. is Snowmobile racing. Then at 7 p.m. the network airs the FIM Motocross MXGP event followed at 8 p.m. with the MX2 race.
That’s it for this weekend and while there isn’t much in our immediate area give it a couple of weeks then things really get going.
