RENO, NV (Nov. 20) – Racing Preview for this week highlights that racing for the year is almost finished. There are still some things to watch but we’re headed into the Re-Run Zone.
CAR MEETS:
• This Sunday, starting around 9 a.m. Carson Cars & Coffee will have their monthly meeting at the Dutch Brothers Coffee at the south end of Carson City.
• Over in Quincy, California the American Valley Speedway is hosting a Poker Run this Saturday. It’s a low-key event with rides through the woods and with prizes to be won.
Everyone is welcome UTV’s or Side-by-Sides, Quads and Motorcycles. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Plumas/Sierra County Fairgrounds, right next to the track, with a 9:30 start to the run.
• Want to give an early heads up as in two weeks two car groups will have a special charity run on Sunday, December 1.
Reno Cars and Coffee gets things started with their usual first Sunday meet at the Kietzke Starbucks. As usual the meet begins at 10 a.m. but at 11:30 everyone heads up 580 to McCarren and the Northtowne Winco parking lot.
There they’ll join the Old Slammers of Reno for their annual Toy Drive. Everyone is encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy as they are all destined for the Children’s Cabinet.
RACING (Regional):
• Over in Dixon, California it’s the third round of this year’s MotoProGraphics Triple Crown Series. This time it’s at the Argyll MX track.
Friday is for practice while racing is on Saturday and Sunday. For further information please check the track’s website at, www.argyllmx.com.
• For the next two weeks the practice sessions at the Northern California tracks is as follows:
+ E Street MX Park – From 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
+ Riverfront – Thursday 4 p.m. until 9 then 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
+ Prairie City – Thursday noon until 5 p.m. then 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL & INTERNATIONAL):
• This week is when we really jump back into the Re-Run Zone except for just a few times.
Thursday is very slim although NBC Sports at 2 p.m. has NASCAR America. After that it’s a good time to check You Tube for the races missed or go to www.mavtv.com and see a varied menu of races repeated.
• Friday starts very early on ESPN 2 as Formula E has qualifying for Race number 1 starting at 2:30 a.m. then airs the race starting at 8:50 a.m.
Over on www.motortrendondemand.com at 3:45 they have qualifying for the Virgin Australian Supercars from Newcastle. At 6:10 a.m. there is the Top 10 Shoot followed at 8:50 a.m. with the first race.
• Saturday is a busy day beginning when Fox Sports 2 has Formula E qualifying at 2:30 a.m. followed by race number 2 at 3:30 a.m. This weekend the series is at Ad Diriyah.
Then at 4:15 Motor Trend on Demand has Australian Supercar qualifying at 4:15 p.m. followd at 6:15 with the Top 10 Shoot Out and at 8:40 Race number 2 from Newcastle.
Back to MAVTV as they have a bunch of races starting at 11 a.m. with the Pro Motocross Championship Ironman then at 2 p.m. the Lucas Oil late Model Dirt series is shown.
At 3 p.m. there is a wild event the FIM Sidecarcross from Estonia. Following that at 4 p.m. is Tony Stewart’s All Star Circuit of Champions then at 6 p.m. the Network has Lucas Oil Speedway Saturday Night.
• Sunday gets rolling at 11 a.m. when CBS Sports has Mobil 1 The Grid then over on NBC Sports at 2:30 p.m. they start two shows of Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour.
Over on MAVTV there is a long list of events that are repeated.
That’s it for this weekend but as live racing disappears take heart, in a little over a month, on January 4th Supercross will usher in the New Year. Have a safe weekend and talk to you next week.
