This weekend motocross returns to our area. Over the winter two clubs and a track combined forces to ensure it would continue to be part of this area.
The first race is this Sunday’s staged by the local Over The Hill Gang chapter with a 9 a.m. launch to the first moto. There will be a practice session Saturday for riders to shake the cobwebs off and get back into their groove.
Local oval track racers will also have a chance to shake down their cars on Saturday as Rattlesnake hosts the first of its two play days.
Over on the tube MAVTV has it’s usual fare of various racing programs.
Among the many on Thursday is the Dirty 30 show, about midgets and sprint cars airing at 10 a.m. followed at 1 p.m. by SRL racing from Irwindale, California. Then at 5 p.m. there will be live coverage of the FIA World Rally Championship from Mexico followed at 7 p.m. with day one from the Geneva Supercross event.
On Friday Fox Sports 1 will have various practice sessions from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway as both the Xfinity and Cup series visit our state.
Saturday begins at 10 a.m. on MAVTV with the FIA World Rally Championship from Mexico followed by a re-air of the WRC from Monte Carlo.
At 1 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 the Xfinity race from Las Vegas will be aired.
At 4:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 covers AMA Supercross races at the Daytona International Speedway. This is a very different event for the series and we’ll see if the KTM steamroller will find victory again.
This event gets Daytona Bike Week rolling and 7 p.m www.fanschoice.tv will air amateur flat track racing.
Next week fanschoice will also air two AMA flat track events from Daytona on March 12 and 13. Times will be listed in next week’s preview posting.
For those intending to compete in the Virginia City Grand Prix this year, the deadline for postmarking a pre-entry is Friday, March 13.
At 11 a.m. Sunday morning MAVTV will air the power stages from the FIA World Championship event in Mexico.
Then at 12:30 p.m., Fox will broadcast the NASCAR Sprint Cup event from Las Vegas. Will Jimmy Johnson continue his run for a sixth championship.
