RENO, NV (MAY 29): Racing Preview for this weekend is another full slate with many options for race fans. There are local events as well as nationals ones to watch.
• CAR MEETS AND CRUISES:
+ First Thursday Cruise in Carson City is this week. Runs from 5 until 7:30 p.m. and meeting place is the Max Casino.
+ Friday has two events. First is the cruise in, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Summit Racing on East Glendale in Sparks.
+ Next is the first Carson Mall Last Friday Cruise from 5:15 until7:30 p.m. so the meeting place is probably in the parking lot on the west side of the mall.
+ On Saturday from 9 until 3 p.m. the Tamarack Junction Casino will host the Rockin? Street Hop.
+ Reno Cars & Coffee will host its first weekend of the month meet, from 10 a.m. until noon, at the Kietzke Starbucks.
REPORTER’S NOTE: In two weeks there will be this year’s Women With Wheels show which has moved up to Virginia City. Proceeds go to a good cause so if any woman has a car she wants to show off the show is Saturday, June 15th.
• RACING (LOCAL AND REGIONAL):
This weekend we are blessed with several racing events and Racing Preview lists where they are and what times things get started.
+ Locally the Metalcloak Wild West Shootout visits Wild West Motorsports park this weekend for a Norcal Rock Racing event. On Friday the gates open at noon and they open at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Last year’s event was pretty wild.
+ American Valley Speedway in Quincy, California is also in action Friday night with a 6 p.m. start to the action.
+ To the east Winnemucca Regional Raceway has a two-day show this. Saturday?s racing begins at 7 p.m. then things get going at 1 p.m. Sunday.
+ Battleborn MX ends its spring season at Winnemucca, right next door to the oval. As usual Saturday, from 9 until 2 p.m. is practice with the first gate dropping around 9 a.m. Sunday.
+ On Sunday, beginning around 9 a.m., the Northern Nevada Kart Club has another of its races at Desert Park Raceway.
+ We here at NVRacingNews want to send our best wishes to all the Norhern Nevada racers competing in this weekend’s BAJA 500.
+ Over the hill three of the motocross tracks will be in action either for practice or racing.
-MMX in Marysville will have practice sessions from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
-E Street MX Park is closed for the time being due to lack of security. A tractor was stolen so the facility is shuttered for now.
-Riverfront has practice Thursday and from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
-Prairie City is hosting a Loretta Lynn Regional this weekend with Thursday parking and from 10 to 3 p.m. practice on Friday.
-Saturday the gates open at 6 a.m. with practice starting at 8 a.m. and racing to follow. Sunday has the same schedule but there is no over night camping after the races that day.
• RACING (NATIONALLY & INTERNATIONALLY:
Now Racing Preview swings over to TV Land as well as the Internet for added racing coverage.
+ Once again Thursday is quite slim but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports has NASCAR America.
This gives one a good time to catch up on events that were missed. One two good sources are www.youtube.com or www.mavtv.com.
+ There is a bit more on Friday when Fox Sports 2 has Xfinity and NASCAR Cup Practice from the “Triangle,” at Pocono. Over on www.imsa.tv at 2:10 p.m. there will be IMSA Weathertech Sport Cars qualifying.
– Switching over to the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv also has IMSA Weathertech Sport Car qualifying from Detroit followed by streaming some short track events.
+ Saturday is one busy day for race fans that will include some channel switching.
– Fox Sports gets things rolling at 7 a.m. with Xfinity qualifying followed at 8:30 a.m. with NASCAR Cup qualifying. Then at 10 the network broadcasts the Xfinity race from Pocono.
– At 9:30 a.m. NBC Sports has the IMCA Weathertech Sports Car series race from Detroit then at 12:30 p.m. NBC broadcasts the first Indy Car race from there. This weekend the Indy Car series is running a double-header.
– If one subscribed to NBC Sports Gold they can see all of the motos from this week?s round of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series. If not then one has some channel switching to do.
At noon MAVTV will show the first 250 moto followed by the first 450 moto with the second motos being aired on Gold at 2:30 and 3:30.
– Then at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Nitro Live from Route 66 Raceway.
– Finally at 8 p.m. www.motortrendondemand.com will stream the first episode from this year;s Isle of Man TT. This Internet channel has several programs during the week so be sure to check their schedule.
Also on the Internet Fanschoice.tv has a bunch of races to watch starting in the morning. Be sure to check their schedule.+ Sunday begins on Fox Sports 1 with NHRA Sunday Live followed at 11 a.m. with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race.
This weekend NASCAR moves from the oval at Charlotte to the three-corner “Triangle,” at Pocono.
Then at 12:30 p.m. NBC broadcasts the second Indy Car race from Detroit.
For you two-wheel fans NBC Sports will air the second motos from Saturday?s Lucas Oil Pro Motocross event. The second 450 moto will aired at 1 p.m. while the second 250 moto is broadcast at 2 p.m.
Finally at 2:30 p.m. Fox Sports has the NHRA Route 66 Nationals. Should be a great event as the entry list is pretty stout.
