RENO, NV (APRIL 24) – Racing Preview for this weekend has a couple of car meets as well as one of the biggest races in our region. In addition there are listings for races in our region as well as national and international events.
CARS & CRUISES:
- This Sunday from 10 a.m. until noon the Reno Euro Cars and Coffee are having a meet. The location is the Doughboys Donut shop located at 57 Damonte Ranch Parkway, #101

- Another car meet is the Northern Nevada Classics and Hellfire Saloon present Back to The Fire. Hours are from 9 until 3 p.m. and Hellfire Saloon is located at 3372 McCarren Blvd. near the intersection with Mira Loma Drive.
• If you’re a fan of Hot August Nights but want an early fix well Redding, California is the place to be. Kool April Nights, a week-long celebration, began on April 20 and goes through Sunday.
It’s a week of car shows, entertainment and cruising for those over there. Mother Nature is also helping by bringing some great weather to the area.
RACING (REGIONAL):
Virginia Grand Prix attracts riders from all over the west.

- The biggest race in our area is the annual Virginia City Grand Prix that brings the excitement of motorcycle competition to the Comstock for two days of wild action.
Racing begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Pros, Expert and Amateurs go on the first day with a timed four-hour event.
Four hours after the green flag sets the first line of riders off the checkered will wave. Of course depending on where the fastest are they might not be even close to the finish but their times will reflect their finishing position.

Then at 4 p.m. there’s a special race, the Moto Mouth Mini Grand Prix honoring long time announcer Bob Cavakis, who passed away last fall. He always encouraged the youngest racers so kids from 4- to 11 years old will race in his honor.
Sunday also begins at 10 a.m. as the Novice, Vets, Bombers and Vintage riders get their chance but the race is times at three hours. This year the senior vets, vintage and new Diva class will use a short course.
On Sunday a rider’s correct time will usually determine their finish.
• Racing Preview also highlights other races in our state and region.
To the east Summit Raceway in Elko begins its season with a Saturday and Sunday show. Moving west Winnemucca Regional Raceway has a race Sunday with a start time of 1 p.m.
South of Fallon there will be two days of racing at Top Gun Drag Strip that includes cars, motorcycles, dragsters and the Junior Dragster classes. Racing, starting at 10 a.m. fills the air Saturday and Sunday.
Moving west Fernley 95A Speedway has its second race of the season with a 6 p.m. start to the action. The evening will feature Gen-X, Hobby Stocks, B and A mods as well as the first of several races by 360 Sprint Cars.
On Friday, starting at 7 p.m. Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, Calif. has its second race of the season. Then on Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. American Valley Speedway in East Quincy, California begins its 2019 season.
RACING (NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MX):
• There is motorcycle racing this weekend as in Marysville the MMX track hosts the 6th Annual Don Matthews CZ World Championships. It’s two days of motocross action.

• Two of the REP Racing MX tracks have practice sessions this week and weekend. Unfortunately E Street MX Park is in need of a new front gate so it won’t be going this weekend.
Riverfront has practice Thursday from 5 until 10 p.m. then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
Currently there is no racing at Prairie City until after the Hang Town Classic however there are practice sessions this weekend. Thursday’s times are from 3 until 7 p.m. while Friday is reserved for the Sierra Old Timers from 9 until 2 p.m. then on Saturday from 9 until 2 p.m. there are practice sessions.

RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• Racing Preview has a varied menu for this weekend.
Thursday has NASCAR America starting at 2 p.m. on NBC Sports followed at 3 p.m. as Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub.
Friday is slim as usual but one can check reruns on www.youtube.com as well as other Internet sites. There is a live event to watch when Fox Sports 1 at 5 p.m. has NHRA Friday Nitro.
Saturday has an early start as ESPN 2 at 5:55 a.m. has Formula 1 qualifying from Azerbaijan followed at 7 a.m. as Fox Sports 1 has Xfinity qualifying from Talladega.
Then at 10 a.m Fox Sports 1 has the Xfinity race followed at by NASCAR Cup qualifying at1:30 p.m. and is broadcast on FOX.

Further north the AMA Supercross season makes its next-to-last race in East Rutherford, New Jersey and it starts at 3 p.m. on NBC Sports. This year’s series ends on May 4th in Las Vegas.
Finally at 8 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA Saturday Nitro.
• Switching over to the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has several events it will stream on Saturday.
Starting at 1:15 it’s the American Flat Track Arizona Super TT from Chandler, Arizona. Then at 3:30 p.m. a race is streamed from Berlin Raceway.
There are two events with the same starting time of 4 p.m. but the one a Bowman Gray Stadium is usually pretty action packed. The track is actually around a football field and there is usually a bunch of rubbing going on.
At that same time a race from Langley Speedway is also to be streamed and following that at 5:55 p.m. the network will stream an event from Tucson Speedway
• Sunday is a pretty full day starting at 5:05 a.m. as ESPN 2 broadcasts the Formula 1 race from Azerbiajan. Then at 11 a.m. Fox broadcasts the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race at Talladega.
Back to Fanschoice.tv at 3 p.m. when a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event from Stafford Motor Speedway.
Fox 1 Sports ends the afternoon with a pair of events. At 2 p.m. they air the Formula E event from Paris, France. Then at 3 p.m. the same day delayed broadcast of the NHRA 4-Wide-Nationals from Charlotte, North Carolina is shown.
