RENO, NV (Nov. 7) – This week’s Racing Preview highlights one of the two final races in our area as well as national and international events. We’re continuing our slide into the Rerun Zone as major series close down for the winter.
CARS:

- Since it’s the second weekend of the month Sparks Cars and Coffee will have their meet from 9 a.m. until Noon on Sunday. The location is the Dunkin’ Donuts in Sparks close to the Target store.
• Another Sunday meet is with Carson Cars and Coffee as they get together at 11 a.m. this Sunday. The location is Dutch Brothers located at 1231 S. Carson Street.
• There is also another meet, the Tahoe Takeover, that runs from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday. The location is Montblue Casino in South Lake Tahoe.
RACES (REGIONAL):

- This weekend the Tank Slappers MC will host MRANN’s final desert race of the year. The locaton is east of Fernley off the Nightingale exit on I-80.
Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with the Pee Wees then at 11:30 the Mini Bikes/V Women and Bombers get their turn on the short course.
Sunday is for the big bikes that start their race at 10 a.m. as riders face the challenge of a 47-mile long loop. To be considered a finisher a rider must complete at least one loop.

- Another weekend motorcycle event is the Blue Mountain Hare Scrambles put on by AMA District 36. The location is Wilseyville, California and there will be two full days of competition.
• As usual the three MX tracks in Northern California will have practice times sessions this weekend.
E Street MX Park has sessions from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has practice from 4 p.m. until 9 on Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.
Prairie City has sessions from 1 until 5 p.m. Thursday then from 9 until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
RACING (NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL):
• This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of a classic motorcycle race. It’s the Lake Elsinore Grand Prix made famous in the movie “On Any Sunday.”

Registration is at trackside and for further information please check the event’s website at, www.elsinoregrandprix.com.
• Thursday is again very slim pickings so the best bet might be to check our www.youtube.com for any races one might have missed and wants to see.
There are two racing shows that day. The first is with NBC Sports at 2 p.m. airing NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.
• This week all three top divisions of NASCAR are at Phoenix.
Thursday begins at 7:30 a.m. on Fox Sports 2 with NASCAR Cup, Xfinity and Camping World Truck series practices. Fox Sports 1 has truck qualifying at 2:25 p.m. with the Camping World Truck Race starting at 5:30 p.m.
NBC Sports has NASCAR Cup qualifying at 4 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports, on a delayed basis, has NHRA Friday Nitro from Pomona.
• Saturday has NBC Sports carrying Xfinity qualifying at 9:35 a.m. then followed on NBC at 12:30 p.m. with that race.
Mike Salinas and the rest of the NHRA racers will end their 2018 season at Pomona.

• This week the NHRA is at its spiritual home Pomona, California for the season ending meet. Sunday gets off to an early start at 8:30 a.m. with NHRA Sunday Nitro on Fox Sports 1 then at 1 p.m. the network will broadcast the finals.
A bit later over on ESPN 2 the Formula One drivers face off at the Grand Prix of Brazil down in Sao Pauo. While the world championship has been decided there are still points to be earned and overall places to be raced for.
Over on www.imsa.tv, starting at 8:50 a.m. there is coverage of the IMSA Weather Tech Sports Cars from Sebring, Florida.
NBC at 11:30 a.m. broadcasts the Monster Energy Cup Race from Phoenix. This race is critical for any driver that might have a chance to be in the final four when the series has its championship round in Florida.
Only two more races left in the NASCAR season and this week the Monster Energy Cup racers will be at Phoenix.
