RACING PREVIEW: SEPT. 20 TO 24

RENO, NV (Sept 19) – With fall in the air seasonal racing is starting to end but there are still events to attend or watch on TV or the Internet. For many drivers its crunch time as this is the stretch run.

CRUISE/SHOW N’ SHINES:

  • On Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Baldinis hosts the Keeping the Classics Alive show n’ shine. Usually a good turn out an the weather will be pretty nice.

•     Next week on Wednesday, Sept 26, is the final cruise at the Sparks A&W. Things get going at 5 p.m. and it’s a great way to end this season until winter passes.

RACING (REGIONAL):

Lovelock Speedway

Lovelock Speedway canceled its final oval track race scheduled for Sept. 29.

  • Due to a schedule conflict Lovelock Speedway cancelled its final oval track race of the season, which originally was set for Sept. 29.

•     Winnemucca Regional Raceway closes out its 2018 season with another Friday night event starting at 7 p.m. and including all the car classes.

  • Saturday has three more races on tap.

Up at Desert Park Raceway the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts its annual night race. Registration begins at 1:30 with practice and qualifying to follow.

Then they start the heat and mains as they race into the night.

To the east Rattlesnake Raceway stages its final points race of the season. Outlaw Karts should get going around 3 p.m. while the cars are scheduled to take the track at 6 p.m.

Down in Feather River country American Valley Speedway in Quincy, Calif. brings its season to a close with the Timber Cup open show. Hot laps start at 6 p.m. then at 7 p.m. racing begins.

•     Now to the two-wheel world.

The biggest local event is Endurocross at the Livestock Events Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. with an autograph session from 6:30 until 7 p.m.

The show has a 7:30 p.m. start to the opening ceremonies and some of the wildest racing to follow.

To the east MRANN hosts its next desert race in Lovelock next to the Speedway.

MRANN races in Lovelock for its latest round of the fall series. The host club is the Mason Valley Dirt Squirts.

Saturday starting at 9 a.m. is when the Pee Wees, Mini Bikes, Women and Bombers get their turn on the short tracks. Then at 10 a.m. the big bikes take to the big track where a rider has to finish one lap be classified as a finisher.

Over the hill there are several practice sessions schedule for this week and weekend

E Street MX Park has a private rental event Saturday but Sunday there will be open practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Riverfront has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday and again from 9 until 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Prairie City, at the Arenacross track has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. on Saturday. The big track is closed until October 13.

RACING (NATIONAL):

  • Over to TV Land now and Thursday is a bit sparce but at 2 p.m. NBC Sports airs NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. on Fox Sports 1 with NASCAR Race Hub.

This week NASCAR is in Richmond, Virginia for the next round in the Playoffs.

NBC Sports gets Friday rolling at 8:35 a.m. with Cup practice followed by Xfinity qualifying then Cup qualifying. Finally at 4:30 p.m. the network broadcasts the Xfinity race.

For drag race fans at 4 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Friday Nitro Live.

NASCAR

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup teams will compete at Richmond, Virginia this weekend.

Saturday’s fare is a bit thin but at 4:30 p.m. NBC Sports airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Richmond. This fast short track usually has a lot of action.

•     On the Internet at www.fanschoice.tv there are three races to watch all from New Hampshire. At 9 a.m. it’s the NASCAR Pinty event followed at 10:45 by the K&N Pro series and finally at 12:30 p.m. with the Whelen Modified Tour.

•     Back to TV land as Fox Sports 1 gets Sunday started at 5 a.m. with NHRA live then at 11 a.m. the network broadcasts the NHRA Mid West Nationals from Gateway.

Fox Sports 2 also has an event as it airs a Formula E race at 10 a.m. while, over on NBC Sports 1 p.m. they’ll broadcast the Motor Sports Hour.CBS Sports also has several events to see. Things get rolling at 1 p.m. with a TransAm race followed by German Touring Car action and finally the Rolex Monterey Motorsports event.
