RACING PREVIEW: JULY 26 TO 29

RENO, NV (JULY 25) – Racing Preview for this week has a bunch of cruises listed as well as what’s going on at the oval tracks in our area. Included will be schedules for the Northern California motocross tracks as well schedules for national and international series.

+ CRUISES/CAR SHOWS:

  • The final Thursday night cruise in Carson City is from 5 until 7:30 p.m. and it starts at Max Casino located at 900 South Carson Street.

•    As usual Summit Racing in Sparks is having its Friday Cruise in from 6 until 8 p.m. However this is the last until August 17th due to Hot August Nights.

•    Friday and Saturday Night the Karson Kruzers has their 33rd “Run What-Cha-Brung,” car show at Mills Park in Carson City. Friday registration starts at 6 p.m. and on Saturday at 8 a.m. with awards presented at 4 p.m. when the show closes.

•    Sunday starts at 3 p.m. for the10th Annual NSRA Classic at Arrow Creek Country Club. It’s a free car show with a BBQ thrown in.

•    Finally, once again a nice way to wind down the weekend is at the Doo Wop@Doughboys runninG from 5:30 until 9 p.m. The shop is located in the south side of the South WalMart area.

+ RACING (Regional):

  • Sadly the Diamond Mountain Speedway in Susanville, Calif. sent out a notice that the remainder of it season has been canceled due to unforeseen problems.

•    To the south the Tonopah Speedway is in action Saturday night with a 7 p.m. start time.

•    The biggest racing event in this region is the annual Frontier Day races at Lovelock Speedway. The Friday and Saturday event helps the town celebrate its founding.

Driver’s meeting are at 6 p.m. each night with racing starting right around 7 p.m. Helping round out the show will be the sprint cars and on Saturday the Northern Nevada Pro Stock Association as well as the Dwarf Cars will be there.

For the A Mods there is a $2000 to win each night and on Saturday the Pro Stocks will run for a $2059.00 to win prize. That race goes for 59 laps with a fuel break in the middle.

After the races Friday night there is a karaoke pit party.

RACING (Motocross):

•    Over the hill REP racing presents round 2 of the Summer Stadiumcross series. The venue is a new one at Rancho Cordova and for further information please check, www.repracingmx.com.

For the other tracks here are their schedules.

E Street MX Park has practice from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Riverfront has practice from 5 until 10 p.m. Thursday and from 9 until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Things are jumping at Prairie City as they have practice from 9 until 2 p.m. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Over at the new Arenacross track they will be racing Saturday with gates opening at noon.

+ RACING (National and International):

Now we head over to TV Land with a short stop on the Internet.

•    Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub then on Fox Sports 2 then have NHRA in 30, which is one of several drag race programs.

•    Friday is pretty empty but there is another place to get your racing fix. That’s www.lucasoilracing.tv, which you have to sign up for.

To get interest there are several free preview programs offered including the Knoxville Nationals as well as the Chili Bowl.

•    Back to TV Land and Saturday where Fox Sports 1 gets things rolling at 10 a.m. with the Camping World Truck race from Pocono.

The Lucas Oil Pro Motoccross series is north of Reno at Washougal, Washington. As usual coverage is split as MAVTV airs the first motos starting at 1 p.m. then at 8 p.m. NBC Sports has the second motos on a delayed basis.

Earlier at 2:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Xfinity Series race from Iowa and at 5 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has Nitro Live from the NHRA Sonoma Nationals.

Switching to the Internet www.fanschoice.tv, at 9:30 a.m. they stream an AMA Pro Hill Climb, White Rose II. This is followed at 3:30 p.m. by Country Night at Berlin Raceway.

•   Sunday begins early at 6:05 a.m. when ESPN 2 has the Formula One Grand Prix of Hungry. This race should start the annual summer break for the series.

Then at 11:30 a.m. NBC Sports airs the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Pocono.

Indy Car

The Indy Car Series will be racing at the Mid-Ohio sports car course on Sunday.

Over on CNBC at 12:30 p.m. that network broadcasts the Indy Car race at Mid-Ohio.

Finally the NHRA makes its second stop on the annual “Western Swing,” as the straight-line racers face off at the Sonoma Nationals.

  • Next Wednesday at PJandCo on South Wells is a fund-raiser to help Try Tremaine afford his trip to this year’s International Six Day Enduro, which is in Chili this time.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m., autograph signing from 5 until 6:30, a raffle and live auction at 7 as the event ends at 8 p.m. Let’s support this local as he will be part of the team representing the U.S. down there.

•    Once again this reporter will be a guest on Teresa’s Garage Radio Show on Tuesday. The show runs from 2 until 3 p.m. and covers all things automotive from repairs, driving around town, safety and other topics.
