RENO, NV (May 16) – We’re a week away from the biggest racing weekend of the year and things are ramping up here as well as across the country and world.

Things get going at 5 p.m. Saturday when the Lovelock Speedway hosts its regular classes plus the Nevada Outlaw Dwarf Cars and the Nevada Pro Stock Association. Promises to be a great night of racing.
Down in Feather River Country, starting at 7 p.m., the American Valley Speedway in Quincy stages another of its points races.
Over the hill the biggest motocross event of the year, Hangtown will be at Prairie City.

The Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club is hosting Amateur days that will also include the 50cc Pee Wee classes. Practice is on Thursday with racing Friday after morning practice.
Saturday is the 50th anniversary of the Hangtown Nationals, which draws many of the stars from the Supercross series. For further information regarding the amateur or pro dates please check www.hangtownmx.com.
Sunday begins around 10 a.m. as the Northern Nevada Kart Club stages another points race at Desert Park Raceway. At that same time Reno Cars and Coffee is having its next meet at the Starbucks located on Robb Drive.
A bit later, at 1 p.m. the Winnemucca Regional Speedway will host another of its points races.
Over the hill E Street MX Park is closed Saturday due to the Hangtown event but on Sunday practice is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. while Riverfront has practice from 5 to10 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday.

Over in TV and Internet Land it’s another full buffet of many types of racing.
On Thursday at 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 airs NASCAR Race Hub then starting at 6:30 p.m. Fox Sports 2 has NHRA in 30 followed by a delayed broadcast of the Arenacross in Reno.
Things get busy Friday starting on Fox Sports 1 at 9:15 a.m. There are several NASCAR Cup practice sessions as well as the All-Star Open Busch Pole award beginning at 3:05 p.m.
Also on the racing card is the Camping World Truck Series and they have a 5:30 p.m. start to their race. Then at 7:30 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA qualifying from Topeka, Kansas.
This year’s Indy 500 has qualifying on Saturday and Sunday. The first day sets the Fast Nine and one of them will qualify for the pole Sunday.
ABC has the first day’s session starting at 1 p.m. at that same time www.mavtv.com will air the first motos from the Hangtown Nationals. The second motos will be shown on NBC Sports starting at 5:30 p.m.

It’s All Star week and NASCAR is home in Charlotte, North Carolina where almost all the race teams are located.
Fox Sports 1, on Saturday shows the All Star Open starting at 3 p.m. then at 5 p.m. the NASCAR Cup All Star Race gets going. This race has no points but there are bragging rights as well as a bunch of money for the teams to win.
NASCAR is home at Charlotte, North Carolina where the All Star race is run Saturday evening.

Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv also has a bunch of events to stream on Saturday.
Things start off with the NASCAR Euro Series as the Elite #1 and #2 races can be seen at 4:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Biggest race, and the closest, is Saturday’s Harley-Davidson Sacramento Mile event that has a 2 p.m. start time. This is followed starting at 3:30 p.m. with races from Berlin Raceway, Langley Speedway and Tucson Speedway.
Fox Sports 1 kicks off Sunday at 11 a.m. with the NHRA Heartland Nationals from Topeka, Kansas.

Then at 1 p.m. ABC airs the second day, this year Pole Day, from Indianapolis as teams and drivers prepare for next weekends Indy 500.

This is a development program for younger drivers.
• This year there is a new national championship for eKarts, like those at Need2Speed. Signups are going on now and on Sunday, at 7 p.m. they’ll have signups as well as a question and answer session regarding this league and the upcoming national championships. It’s also the deadline for a registration price break and there should be two free practice races for those that sign up.
A series of races will determine the local champion then they will go to Chicago for the nationals where the champion will pocket $10,000.
