RENO, NV (April 11) – Racing Preview for this week has several events in our area plus a benefit to help a rural town with its 4th of July expenses. The national and international slate is also full of events to watch.
Rattlesnake Raceway in Fallon once again has a full program of cars, Outlaw Karts and Dwarf Cars. Racing begins at 6 p.m. although the karts begin their mains around 3 p.m.

Down in Yerington there is an off-road Poker Run that begins in the morning after 9 a.m. The event benefits the local 4th of July celebration and fireworks.
BBMX is at Carlin, Nevada that weekend. Poster for that race.
Battle Born MX is on the road this weekend as the next race is at Carlin, Nevada. As usual practice is on Saturday with the motos being run Sunday.
Northern Nevada Kart Club kicks off its 2018 season with its first points race at Desert Park Raceway. Gates open at 7 a.m. with racing starting around 10 a.m.

The track is located about a quarter mile on the dirt extension to Lemmon Valley Drive.
Over the hill in Northern California the second round of the 2018 Amateur Shootout will be run this weekend. Friday is practice while there are practice sessions and racing both Saturday and Sunday.

Due to the weather things are a bit iffy for the other Northern California motocross tracks but things should be good by the weekend.
The best bet is to call the hotline, 775-265-7223 before heading out. One change is at Prairie City as the Sierra OTHG chapter has moved their national race date to this weekend. Saturday is for practice with racing on Sunday after a practice session.
Sunday is when Reno Cars and Coffee will host their next meet at the Starbucks on Robb Drive. Easy access from I-80 when you go west and the meet has a 10 a.m. start time.
Over in TV land there is a banquet of events and even one on the Internet.
Thursday begins at 2 p.m. on NBC Sports with NASCAR America followed at 3 p.m. when Fox Sports 1 has NASCAR Race Hub.
Then at 7 p.m. and again at 11 p.m. ESPN has Formula One practice from China.
This week NASCAR’s top two divisions are at the high-banked bullring that is Bristol Motor Speedway.
Friday starts at 9 a.m. on Fox Sports 1 with a NASCAR Cup practice followed by two practice sessions for the Xfinity series. Then at 1:45 p.m. the NASCAR Cup drivers qualify.
Later that evening at 11 p.m. on ESPN 3 the Formula One drivers will qualify.
Saturday begins at 10 a.m. with the Xfinity race from Bristol. Then at 1 p.m. the IMSA Weather Tech Sport Cars tackle the street course at Long Beach. They are part of this week’s celebration of speed the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix.
At 3:30 p.m. NBC Sports has Indy Car qualifying from Long Beach followed at 7 p.m. with the AMA Supercross event from Minneapolis.

The day ends on ESPN 2 with the Chinese Grand Prix from Shanghai.
Fox gets Sunday rolling with the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup event from Bristol. This bull ring usually offers some action packing racing due to its small size.
The NASCAR Cup drivers will face the challenge of Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend.

Then at 1 p.m. NBC Sports airs the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix for the Indy Cars.The race draws one of the largest crowds of the season.
On this circuit, with walls on both sides of the track, drivers have to be inch perfect or they probably won’t be around at the finish. This makes for an action packed race.
This week’s Toyota Grand Prix at Long Beach will be an action packed event.

Over on CBS Sports they have Australian Supercars starting at 11 a.m. followed by two motorcycle events from Aguenda, Portugal. First up is the FIM MX 2 followed by the MXGP race.
That’s it for this weekend. Have a good time and remember to attend a race if you can. There is nothing like it as you get to experience all the color, excitement, speed and noise of a live event.
