RENO (July 26) – Racing preview has another busy weekend with a major event coming to our area this weekend. Over in California there will be two motocross events as well as others nationally and internationally

Fernley 95A Speedway has the biggest local event this weekend as the Sprint Car Challenge is coming Saturday with festivities, including a bike give away for the kids.
The gates open at 2 p.m. with cars in the track around 5 p.m. so it will be the place for sprint car fans
On that same night Rattlesnake Raceway will also be in action. The Outlaw Karts begin the show in the afternoon then at 6 p.m. the cars take to the track for another points race.
One schedule shows 360 sprint cars appearing while the other one does not. No matter if they do or don’t it should be a good show.
Over the hill the E Street MX Park in Marysville is closed Thursday due to all of its water trucks breaking down. But things should be repaired so from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday there will be practice session.
The fourth round of the Saturday series motocross events originally slated for the Prairie City track will be held on the Riverfront MX track.
Gates open at noon Saturday, practice begins at 2 p.m. with racing to follow when those sessions are completed.

On Sunday the second round of the Summer Challenge Motocross series will be held at the 408MX track. This is located at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds.

Over on TV Land there are several events going on including one very close to Northern Nevada.
Thursday is a bit slim with NASCAR America shown on NBC Sports at 2 p.m. then Fox Sports follows at 3 p.m. with NASCAR Race Hub.
Friday is busier starting at 5 a.m. as Fox Sports 1 has Formula 1 practice from Budapest, Hungry. Then at 9 a.m. the network airs Camping World Truck Series practice from Pocono.
At 3 p.m. NBC Sports has more NASCAR practice while Fox Sports 1 has the ARCA race from Pocono.
The second round of NHRA’s Western Swing will be at Sonoma Raceway this weekend and Fox Sports 1, at 8 p.m. Friday has qualifying.
Saturday gets off to another early start at 5 a.m. when NBC Sports airs Formula 1 qualifying followed at 8:30 a.m. with Xfinity practice from Ponoco.
At 10 a.m. Fox presents the Camping World Truck Series race from Pocono while at 12:30 p.m. NBC Sports has the Xfinity race fro Pocono.
The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross series is at Washougal this weekend and as usual it’s split coverage. Starting at 1 p.m. MAVTV has the first motos followed at 3 p.m. when NBC Sports airs the second motos.
Over on the Internet www.fanschoice.tv has some varied races it will stream on Saturday.
Things begin at 4:15 a.m. with the first of two NASCAR Euro races from the fast Hockenheimring circuit in Germany. Then at 2 p.m. they stream an American Flat Track event from the Calistoga, California half-mile and finally things end at 3:30 p.m. with a race from Berlin Raceway.
Sunday has another early start at 4:20 a.m. as NBC Sports airs the Formula 1 race from Budapest, which might be the last one before the traditional August break.
Monster Energy NASCAR Cup racers will be at Pocono this weekend.

Then at noon NBC Sports has the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from the Triangle or Pocono International Raceway. It features three different turn and is the most unusual shaped track NASCAR goes to.
At that same time CNBC will have live coverage of the Indy Car race from the Mid Ohio course. This is a purpose built road course that’s not easy to turn a fast lap on.
Alexis DeJoria will be racing at the NHRA event in Sonoma this weekend.

Finally at 1 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has the NHRA Mellow Yellow Sonoma Nationals over in the North Bay Area. It’s a little more than a three-hour drive from Reno.
That’s it for this week. As usual I encourage anyone to get out and see a live event.
There is nothing like being there and experiencing the sound, color and speed of live racing. And if you to go to the NHRA event you’ll be well advised to invest in either earmuffs like used for shooting, work well with children, or ear plugs made for hearing protection.
