RENO (June 22) – This week’s Racing Preview is a bit unusual but still full of events as well as listings for both TV and what will be streamed over the Internet.
First off there are two local events this weekend.
On Saturday, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the National Auto Museum is the Reno Women with Wheels car show, which is hosted by Teresa’s Garage Radio Show. Cars start staging at 8:30 a.m. with a 9:30 a.m. start time.
Although it’s slanted toward women anyone that likes cars is welcome to come by and see the cars as well as meet their owners.
On Sunday the Northern Nevada Kart Club hosts round three of the KPX series. It will bring racers from California and could entirely fill the pits.
There is practice on Saturday then on Sunday, after practice qualifying begins around 11:45 a.m. with mains to start around 1:45 p.m. Due to flooding Lemmon Drive is still closed so here are the directions to avoid that area.
For the first time this season all the region’s oval tracks will be dark this weekend. However one north of us will be hosting a special race.
The Modoc Speedway in Cedarville, California is the site of Saturday’s Jim Russell Senior Memorial race for the Nevada Pro Stock Association and racing begins at 6 p.m. Along with that class there will be a Hobby Stock race and both groups will have a good pay off for the winner.
This race is the reason why Lovelock Speedway canceled its race slated for that same day.
Over the hill Riverfront is closed by E Street MX Park will be open, both the front and back tracks, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. for practice Saturday and Sunday. The same goes for the Motocross track at Prairie City.
As summer has begun so is the cruise season that leads us into Hot August Nights. The first, sponsored by 103.7 FM the River will be Wednesday, June 28, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Los Compadres located at 1250 Disc Drive in Sparks.
We hear at nvracingnews want to extend our best wishes to the local rider racing at Mammoth Mountain this week. Hope they can bring home some bear trophies.
The races can be watched as they are being streamed on www.floracing.com.
Over on TV land Thursday is pretty slim although there are two programs that aren’t repeats.

Fox Sports 1 gets Friday going at 7 a.m. with practice sessions from Iowa as well as Sonoma Raceway, Sears Point to us veterans.
Then at 5:30 p.m. Fox Sports broadcasts the Camping World Truck race from Iowa followed at 7:30 p.m. by NHRA qualifying. Over on MAVTV at 6 p.m. they have ARCA racing from Wisconsin.

Moving over to the Internet, www.fanschoice.tv has a bunch of events starting at 11 a.m. with the American Flat Track race from the Lima Half Mile. Then at 3:30 p.m. a series of events will be streamed from Berlin Raceway, Langley Speedway, Salina High Banks and ending at Magic Valley Speedway.
It’s an early start Sunday as NBC Sports, at 5 a.m. has live coverage of the Formula 1 race from Azerbaijan followed at 10 a.m. by the Indy Car Race from Road Amereica at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race from Sonoma begins at noon on Fox Sports 1.

At 3 p.m. Fox Sports has live coverage of the NHRA event from Norwalk, Ohio. Then at that same time NBC Sports airs the Mint 400 that was run earlier this year.
Once again, if possible get out and attend one of the live events listed. There is nothing like being there, seeing the action or cars on display.
