Although racing in this area is over for the year there are still events local racers are heading to and fans can watch.

Racing Preview for this week is again slim since the major series have ended their season. It’s the slim time of the year.

Locally there should be practice session for motocross riders at Livfast Exit 28 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Some motocross racers will be heading over the hill to Prairie City for the next two rounds of the ProMotographics Triple Crown. Friday is practice day with racing Saturday and Sunday.

Since the first two rounds at Oatfield were flooded out that event has been rescheduled for the weekend of January 13 and 14.

On Saturday the next round in Bishop Motocross Winter Series will be held at the Fairgrounds down there. Gates open at 7 a.m. with racing starting a couple of hours later.

And at least one local rider is making the trip to Buckeye, Airzona. That’s where the Arizona Cycle Park is and this weekend is the AZ Open Motocross Championships.

There is another live event this weekend at the Tucson Dragway where they will have two days of all types of drag racing.

Over on TV we’re in the “rerun period” of the year but there is also a live event going on in Nevada this weekend.

Down in Las Vegas NASCAR is honoring its Sprint Cup Championship with many events.

On Thursday, streamed on www.nascar.com, the Myers Brothers Luncheon will start at 11 a.m. followed at 2:45 p.m. by the Victory Lap fueled by Sunoco. This last event will have all 16 chase drivers get into their cars and drive down Las Vegas Boulevard.

At 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has a Best of the Year program from NASCAR Race Hub.

Over on MAVTV starting at 4 p.m. they have Lucas Oil Late Models followed by Madera racing.

Friday begins on the Internet as www.fanschoice.tv starts coverage of the final events in the Ferrari Finali Mondiali series from the road course at Daytona International Speedway.

Race 1 for the Trofeo Pirelli class begins at 2:30 p.m. followed at 4:50 p.m. by race one for the Coppa Shell division.

Over on NBC Sports the NASCAR Sprint Cup awards banquet show begins at 4 p.m. as the top finishers as well as the champion is honored.

On Saturday fanschoice.tv starts its coverage at 9:35 a.m. with the Trofeo Pirelli race followed at 11:35 a.m. with the Coppa Shell class.

Over on MAVTV at 4 p.m. they have the Lucas Oil ASCAR race then at 6 p.m. Lucas Oil Drag Boat races.

Sunday begins early as the final races for the Ferrari Finali Mondiali series are run starting at 6:30 a.m. with the Coppa Shell class followed at 8:45 a.m. with the Trofeo Pirelli class.

At 3 p.m. NBC Sports has its Motorsports hour followed by the Mecum Auto Auctions.

Not to be left out CBS sports starts its race coverage at 3 p.m. with Enduro Cross followed by the Off Road Mystic Terracross series.

That’s it for this weekend. Yes things are a bit slim but we’re just over a month away from the start of the 2017 Supercross season.
