This track ends its season with a charity race and helps another one with contributions from the banquet.
FALLON (Oct. 15) – Rattlesnake Raceway ended it racing for this year with a double header; the annual Kris Kringle charity race followed that evening by the awards potluck banquet.
The day began at the track with the annual Kris Kringle charity race. Drivers and crews donated a bunch of toys and bicycles for the cause.
After the heats ended there was an intermission then drivers returned to their cars. In the mains they would run a full invert start where the heat winner was last and the last place finisher was on the pole.
When the green waved on the three-car IMCA main Bryon Hutchinson took off with Chris Christiano giving chase. The only caution came on lap 12 after Jay Bradley spun his car.
Once racing resumed Hutchinson took off with Christiano in hot pursuit. Round and round they went with their own private duel.
Finally with two to go Christiano got the inside line and was able to make the winning pass dropping Hutchinson to second ahead of Bradley.
The Hobby Stocks had the biggest field and when the green waved Shayna Robertson led the charge until Shane Cazel used an inside move to take the point.
Then there was a caution when two cars tangled and apparently collected other cars. Now Bob Shank was on point and led the charge when racing resumed.
Young Cody Morris was on a charge and soon was third. Another caution slowed the field and when racing resumed Shank was on point with Cazel having his hands full holding off Morris.
In the end Shank scored the victory and did several donuts to celebrate the victory.
There were only three cars in what became the 4-cylinder division. Although Stephanie Hornback briefly led in her Mini Stock she soon lost the point to Mod Mini driver Steve Singley.
Waynes Estes brought his Legends Car out and ran a consistent second place although he was hampered by wheel spin coming out of Turn 4.
In the end it was Singley’s race.
Later six Hobby Stock racers that had put up money had a grudge race. It first was a battle between Cody Morris and Shane Cazel until there was contact.
Morris spun but was able to keep his place as Cazel was ruled at fault and put to the back. That was all Morris needed as he sped off to claim the victory and money.
Also on tap were some Outlaw Karts also getting in some racing of their own. Unfortunately don’t have the names of those winners.
A few hours later, the awards banquet, potluck actually began at the convention center. LARA president Chris Lumsden gave his opening remarks about how proud he was of the volunteers that help keep the track running.
