Racing preview for this week has a major event in our area plus the start of another racing season as well as what can be seen on TV and the Internet.
The biggest biggest here is the annual National Championship Air Races, it’s the only place on the planet where six classes of aircraft race each other.
In addition to the races there’s an air show with many acts as well as static displays of both military and civilian aircraft. The headliners this year are the Flying Blue Angels.
For further information please go to www.airrace.org.
This weekend is also the start of the 775 Fall Motocross series. First two events will be held at Livfast Exit 28 Motocross course.
Practice on Saturday runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and on Sunday gates open at 6 a.m. with racing following practice sessions. Camping is allowed on a first come first served basis.
Saturday, starting at 6 p.m., is the season ending event at Fernley 95A Speedway. The track won’t have its annual 2-day show and after the races the champions will be awarded their trophies.
So it seems there won’t be an awards banquet and the future of this area’s longest dirt track seems to be in doubt. Hope to have more on this later.
Another track ending its season is American Valley down in Quincy. The action begins at 7 p.m. and any championships will be secured when the final checkered flag flies.
Over on TV there are very different series racing.
Thursday at 5 p.m. CBS Sports repeats the Endouross event from Sioux Falls. At that same time Fox Sports 1 airs the ARCA race from Chicagoland.
Friday starts at 6:30 a.m. as NBC Sports has Formula 1 practice from Singapore then at 1:30 p.m. Fox Sports has Camping World Truck qualifying from Chicagoland.
At 3 p.m. Fox Sports 1 has NHRA qualifying from Charlotte followed at 5 p.m. with the Camping World Truck series race from Chicagoland.

Saturday begins at 6 a.m. on CNBC with Formula One qualifying followed at 11:30 when NBC Sports has the Xfiinity race from Chicagoland.
Then at 3 p.m. NBC Sports has Indy Car qualifying from Sonoma. And for those having Fox Sports 2 there is a FIA World Endurance race from Austin with a 3 p.m. start time.
Sunday begins at 4 a.m. with the Formula One race from Singapore on NBC sports followed at 11 a.m. with the Sprint Cup race from Chicagoland.
The Cup event is the first race in this year’s Chase for the Championship.
Then at 11:30 a.m. Fox Sports has the NHRA event from Charlotte where they run on a 4-wide strip. The Indy Car race from Sonoma starts at 3:30 p.m. on NBC Sports.
Not to be left out CBS Sports starts their Sunday at 10 a.m. with motorcycle racing followed by stadium trucks and Trans-Am racing.
If possible, try and get to a race to see it live. There is nothing like it as you’ll get to see all the speed, color and experience the excitement.
