Motorsport Preview: April 21/24-2016

Another weekend is ahead of us with another buffet of racing events.

This week’s Motorsport Preview is another mixed bag of events that includes a special one in our area.

Fernley 95A Speedway - BCRA Midgets.

BCRA Midgets return to Fernley 95A Speedway this Saturday.

This big event will be at Fernley 95A Speedway as the track hosts a double header with the BCRA Midgets and the Nevada Pro Stock Association joining the regular classes.

The last NPSA winner Robert Miller should again be in B.J. Pearson’s Nuclear Banana car. If he also races his IMCA modified he’ll be going for his 100th victory in that class.

We also want to give a shout out for our local motocross riders on Team Testa that are heading to Turlock, California for another “Road to Mammoth,” qualifier. Good luck to all them.

On Sunday, at Desert Park Raceway, the Northern Nevada Kart Club will be in action. Heat races should begin around 10 a.m. that morning.

Up north in Alturas, California there will be motocross racing. Gates and sign ups start at 6 a.m. with practice beginning a bit after 8 a.m. and racing will follow.

On a serious note Rattlesnake Raceway has announced the May 14 event has been canceled. If possible it will be made up later in the season.

• Over on TV there is another varied menu of races for almost any fan.

On Thursday CBS Sports, starting at 3 p.m., has Australian V-8 Supercars followed by the delayed broadcast of the World Challenge Series from Long Beach, California.

Fox 1 has a pretty full schedule on Thursday starting with NASCAR practice from Richmond and ended with Sprint Cup qualifying.

The NASCAR Xfinity race from Richmond starts Saturday at 9 a.m. on Fox Sports 1. Supercross fans will want to be on FOX as the network is broadcasting the round from Foxborough, Mass with a 12:30 p.m. start time.
