Racing is heating up and this week’s preview has where the action will be for fans.
Racing preview this week includes another local race as well as what’s on TV and the Internet, which is of special interest to those that are two-wheel fans.
Not only does Daylight Savings Time begin on Sunday but that’s the same day of the first round for the 775 Spring Classic motocross series. So fans and competitors need to reset their clocks Saturday night.
The location will be east of Sparks at Livfast Exit 28 Motocross Track. People can camp there and on Saturday practice is from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Then on Sunday, race practice begins at 8 a.m. sharp so motos can begin on time.
Over the hill the final round of the Bishop Motocross Winter Series will be run Saturday, March 12. Gates will open at 7 a.m. at the Tri-County Fairgrounds. The fourth round of the AMP MX Winter Series will be at Carnigie Cycle Park in Tracy, California on Sunday, March 13.
Down in Southern Nevada the annual Mint 400 is run on Saturday. There is a parade through downtown Las Vegas I believe on Friday and off road legend Rod Hall will be the grand marshal
On Saturday at 6 a.m. the Limited classes will be launched and at 12:30 p.m. the Unlimited group will be let loose on the course.
Over on the TV side there is not much on Thursday except a few NASCAR related programs and Friday is much the same with practice and qualifying runs at Phoenix.
On Saturday at 11:30 a.m. the Xfinity series takes to the track in Phoenix with Fox broadcasting the race. Then at 4 p.m. Supercross returns to Canada as they race in Toronto on Fox Sports 1.
If you want to see at least the 450 main and weren’t able to record it, next week go to the Supercross Face Book Page. Or if you don’t mind subscribing to a service that also includes a bunch of sports related channels go to www.supercrosslivestreaming.com.
Sunday begins at 7:30 a.m. when CBS Sports airs the World Challenge event from Austin, Texas.
Then at 9:30 a.m. the Indy Car season begins on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida with ABC broadcasting the race.
Finally at noon Fox airs the NASCAR Sprint Cup event from Phoenix.
For two wheel fans the Internet is where it’s all happening on www.fanschoice.tv.
On Thursday the first rounds of the AMA Flat Track season from the Daytona Dirt Track are streamed. And on Friday they repeat the same schedule for another day of racing.
That schedule is; practice and qualifying sessions start at noon followed by the semi mains at 4 p.m. Then at 5:30 p.m. it’s time for the main events as the riders take to the dirt.
Years ago the Daytona 200 motorcycle race was the premier event at Daytona’s Bike Week. Since then its been eclipsed by the Supercross race.
However, like last year, the race will be live, or can be viewed later on www.fanschoice.tv. It will be broadcast live on Saturday, March 12 starting at 9:30 a.m. It’s a chance to watch the classic race in its 75th edition.
