CAR MEET TRIPLE HEADER

RENO, NV (Mar. 16) — Half way through March and it’s more like a lion out there with the wind. Despite this there was a car, a Jeep as well as a cruise in this Sunday.

Sunday morning Reno Jeeps & Coffee gathered for coffee and fellowship.

• Things got going when Reno Jeeps & Coffee met by the Human Bean Coffee Stand located at the corner of Longley Lane and South McCarran. Turn out was a bit light but still good.

Any Reno Cars & Coffee meet always has a variety of makes an models of cars.

• Not far away, by the Human Bean Coffee Stand located near the corner of Keitzke and Moana Lanes there was another meet. This one hosted by Reno Cars & Coffee.

  • As usual there were lines of modern cars and some engines on display. There was also a good crowd of people that were checking out all the vehicles on display.
There was this stock 1939 Chevy Pickup on display.
  • Over on one row was a classic was a classic Chevrolet pickup that appeared stock. The license said it was from 1939 and it looked well cared for.
This beautiful Red Chevy truck was also on display.
  • Not far away was another classic Chevrolet flat bed but this one had been restored. It’s owned by Alan Gregory, who moved here from South Lake Tahoe.

  • Asked about his truck he said, “It’s a ’48 Chevy Thrift Master, got a 327 in it. It’s on a Mustang front end with disc brakes and shocks. Has a 4 Automatic B&M Shifter. I bought the truck brand new just like this and I’ve had it four and a half years.”
  • He found the truck at a Mecum Auction in Las Vegas. He mentioned they are fun to attend but they add 10% onto the sale price.

  • Asked how it drives he said, “It goes 100 miles an hour and doesn’t wander like an old truck.”
Later Nevada Muscle had a cruise in at Scoopers in Sparks.

• As that meet ended Nevada Muscle was having a cruise in so some headed that way. Location was Scoopers in Sparks. Cars and people started arriving before noon and the number grew after that. Many enjoyed the food and drinks while there.

• Next Sunday Sparks Cars & Coffee has their second meet of the month. Meets are listed in Thursday’s preview article.

• Battle Born Motocross did try to hold their first race of the season. However the winds were so bad out at Fernley they called the event after the first motos.

OTHER RACING NEWS:

Trucks & Tacos meet this Tuesday at Chemas Real Tacos in Sparks.

• This Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Trucks & Tacos of Northern Nevada will have their next meeting. The location Chemas Real Tacos at 1845 Prater Way in Sparks.

On the 29th they will pick starting numbers for this year’s Virginia City Grand Prix.

• For you planning on racing in this year’s Virginia City Grand Prix time is running out. All registrations are on line this year and the drawing party, where you receive your starting number is only a couple of weeks away. You can sign up at, www.vcgp.com.

Only a couple of weeks before Al Lockett has his annual show at the Convention Center.

• In just a couple of weeks the annual Motosports Expo, which is part of the annual Reno RV Show and Reno Boat Show. It’s at the Convention Center and a great way to check in with the off-road clubs that are usually represented.

In just a few weeks the annual AMA Hangtown Amateur Classic is the week before the second round of the AMA Outdoor series.

• The 2025 AMA Supercross season is winding down. Right after that the Outdoor Season begins. The second stop is the Hangtown event but the first two days is the Amateur Classic. So if one wants to race on the same track the pros use now is the time so sign up as all classes, including the 50cc Pee Wees, will get their chance.

Want to be part of that event, here’s your opportunity.
  • If you aren’t racing but want to be part of the event there is an opportunity. They need flaggers for Amateur Days as well as the Hangtown Motocross Classic. Flaggers help with safety and work close to the track.
Need 2 Speed is moving its indoor kart racing track.

• For you that have enjoyed indoor kart racing Need 2 Speed is moving. They are going to the Northtowne Market place off Highway 395 (580) at North McCarran Blvd.
